Chapter 134
Actually, those designer clothes Anastasia used to wear were all bought by Jasper—he’d been the one who liked that stuff. Jasper was super particular about appearances. So Anastasia had worn what he liked to make him happy. But what was the point? When a man wants to cheat, there’s nothing you can do to stop him.
Seeing that Anastasia wasn’t responding, Valeria deliberately flashed the Cartier bracelet on her wrist. “My boyfriend says women deserve only the best.”
When Jasper’s gaze landed on Anastasia’s beautiful face, something complicated flickered in his eyes. “Anastasia…”
Anastasia glanced at him coolly with obvious disdain.
Jasper frowned, his ego bruised. Didn’t she marry Cassian Rhodes? Why was she shopping for discounted clothes then? Guess Cassian didn’t treat her that well after all. Maybe Anastasia would regret her choice soon enough.
Tamia was about to snap back when Anastasia gently stopped her and smiled calmly at Valeria. “What suits you is what’s best. I really like this dress.”
Valeria deliberately clung to Jasper’s arm. “Babe, I’ve been wanting that limited edition piece forever. We have to get it today!”
The sales associate approached awkwardly. “Miss, that gown requires advance booking…”
“Do you know who my boyfriend is?” Valeria raised her voice. “The heir to Hale Corporation! Get your manager over here!”
Anastasia didn’t want to get involved in this drama and pulled Tamia toward the checkout.
As soon as they left the store, Tamia exploded. “That pissed me off so much! Such nouveau riche behavior! Ana, why’d you stop me? I wanted to tear that bitch apart!”
Anastasia was about to respond when her phone buzzed. It was a text from Cassian: [Just finished dinner. Where are you? I’ll come pick you up.]
She sent him the mall location and turned to Tamia. “Cassian’s coming. Let’s wait at the café downstairs.”
“I’m not gonna be a third wheel. I’ll walk you down, then I’m getting a facial. Do I look tired lately?” Tamia asked nervously.
Tamia was clearly taking this reunion seriously. “Not at all, you look great,” Anastasia reassured her.
“I want to look absolutely perfect because Garthan Quill is coming too. You remember him, right? Our class heartthrob.” Tamia sounded mysterious. He’d been super popular back then before going abroad for college. He was coming to the reunion too—still the white knight of so many girls’ dreams!
Anastasia smiled. “I remember. Go get that facial then.”
“Easy for you to say—you already got the best guy. You don’t understand us single people’s struggles,” Tamia sighed dramatically.
Soon, Cassian arrived.
Tamia waved at him. “Mr. Rhodes, take your wife home! Don’t let me delay my beauty routine—I’ve got a prince charming to impress.”
Cassian actually smiled slightly and gallantly opened the car door for Anastasia. “Good luck, Miss Summer.”
After watching Tamia leave, Anastasia got in the car, laughing. “Tamia’s still so bubbly. She had a crush on Garthan all through college—can’t believe she still hasn’t gotten over it after all these years.”
Cassian started the car and asked casually, “Really? What about you, Mrs. Rhodes? Did you have any college crushes?”
Anastasia paused, then laughed. “What, are you getting jealous of ancient history?”
She decided to tease him. “Let me think… there were actually a few pretty decent guys…”
Before she could finish, Cassian suddenly pulled over and parked. He unbuckled his seatbelt and leaned over, trapping her between the seat and his body. “Oh? Tell me more about these guys.”
His dark eyes were inches from hers, his warm breath brushing against her face.
Anastasia’s heart raced, her cheeks burning. “I… I was just kidding…”
Cassian chuckled low and gave her a quick kiss. “Mrs. Rhodes, you better remember this—”
His voice was low and dangerous. “From now on, I’m the only man you’re allowed to think about.”
Anastasia pushed him away, her face red. “Just drive already!”
Such a child!
