Listen to this chapter:

When Jenny rushed to the warehouse, she found no sign of Sonia or Rainee anywhere.

Then the screaming started. The horrible sounds made Jenny’s blood freeze. That voice… oh God, was that Sonia?

Jenny pounded frantically on the door, but whoever was inside couldn’t hear her over the noise. Finally, in desperation, she grabbed a chunk of concrete and smashed the lock.

When she shoved the door open, the scene nearly made her collapse. Inside, a woman’s voice had gone completely hoarse and was getting weaker by the second. Several men stood around laughing in the most revolting way imaginable.

“Sonia!” Jenny’s eyes went wide with horror, unable to process what she was seeing.

How the hell had this happened? The men were already half-naked and getting ready for the main event.

“Stop! Stop right fucking now! Get out of here unless you want to spend the next ten years in prison! The cops are already on their way–I called them!” Jenny screamed.

She was totally bluffing, hoping to scare them off. She’d rushed here without thinking it through. She’d expected to find Anastasia getting brutalized, not this nightmare.

When Sonia heard Jenny’s voice, it was like hearing angels sing. Thank God–Jenny was here. She’d finally made it. For a while there, Sonia thought she was completely screwed.

“Jenny…” Sonia managed to croak out, though every word was agony. She’d been beaten so badly her face was swollen beyond recognition–like a grotesque balloon. If she hadn’t spoken, Jenny wouldn’t have even known it was her.

The thugs freaked out when Jenny mentioned the cops and scrambled to get dressed and bolt.

Jenny knew she couldn’t actually call the police–these were the guys she’d had Rainee hire. But how the hell had Sonia ended up in here instead? What went wrong? And where the fuck was Rainee? This whole thing had gone completely sideways.

After the men ran off, Jenny finally exhaled and rushed to Sonia’s side. “Sonia, what happened?” Jenny asked, her voice breaking. They’d been working together for years–they were practically family at this point.

Sonia’s clothes were completely shredded, her underwear visible through the tears. Every inch of exposed skin was covered in bruises–purple, black and everything in between. She looked absolutely destroyed.

At least Jenny had shown up when she did. If those animals had actually gone through with it… Sonia might as well have been dead.

Chapter 150

Jenny stared at the extent of Sonia’s injuries, unable to find words. She couldn’t believe what Sonia had endured in just one hour.

Sonia was shaking uncontrollably, tears and blood streaming down her face as she made these horrible, broken sounds. She couldn’t even form complete sentences. She was completely shattered, on the verge of passing out.

Thankfully, Jenny had brought a doctor with her, who quickly examined Sonia. Just surface injuries, no life-threatening damage.

Jenny’s eyes welled up as she quickly wrapped her jacket around Sonia, her voice trembling: “It’s okay, I’m getting you out of here right now…”

Sonia clung to Jenny and sobbed. “Jenny, thank God you got here when you did… I thought I was never gonna see you again…” Her face and mouth were so swollen that her words came out slurred and broken. But you could tell Sonia was seriously messed up.

“It’s over now. Don’t worry–we’re gonna make whoever did this pay,” Jenny said through gritted teeth. She’d thought their plan was foolproof. How the hell had it backfired so spectacularly? Someone had outsmarted them and nearly destroyed Sonia in the process. Jenny was beyond furious.

Sonia was seething with rage. If she’d actually been raped today, she would’ve made damn sure to drag that bitch Anastasia down with her, even if it killed her.

Soon, Sonia and Jenny left the warehouse. Since this whole thing was so humiliating, Sonia couldn’t report it to the police or go to a hospital. She’d have to recover at home. She wouldn’t be leaving the house for a long time.

When Anastasia got home, she headed straight for the shower. What a day. She was exhausted.

When she came out of the bathroom, Cassian was watching her with that look in his eyes. Anastasia knew that look very well.

She stood in the bathroom doorway, water droplets falling from her hair and pooling at her collarbone. She wore a soft pink silk nightgown that hugged her curves perfectly.

Cassian’s gaze was like fire, starting at her ankles and burning its way up, making her exposed skin tingle.

“See something you like?” Anastasia asked shyly, toweling off her damp hair.

Cassian rose from the couch, his tall frame casting shadows in the lamplight. He walked toward her slowly, catching a strand of her wet hair between his fingers, his voice low and rough: “Never enough. Let me dry your hair for you.”

Anastasia looked up into his eyes, feeling her cheeks burn. But her heart felt warm too.

Chapter 150

She handed him the blow dryer. As Cassian’s long fingers ran through her hair, she couldn’t help but shiver. Anastasia slowly closed her eyes, savoring this tender moment.
