Chapter 160
“Soon after, Megan came rushing into the hospital. “Jasper, how’s Valeria doing?”
Jasper answered, “Mom, don’t worry. Both she and the baby are okay.”
“Oh thank God! What a relief,” Megan said, then turned serious. “Jasper, you cannot stress her out anymore. While she’s pregnant, you need to give her whatever she wants. This is the Hale family’s first grandchild—do you understand how huge this is?”
Megan had been dreaming of this moment for years.
“I get it, Mom,” Jasper nodded.
He knew exactly how crucial this baby was. With all those illegitimate half-siblings waiting for him to mess up, he couldn’t afford any mistakes. He was the legitimate heir to everything.
Soon, Valeria was moved to a private VIP suite.
In the luxurious room, Valeria lay weakly in the hospital bed, looking fragile and pale. She slowly opened her eyes to find Megan and Jasper at her bedside, and immediately started tearing up. “Mrs. Hale, I’m so sorry for scaring you like that…”
Megan immediately grabbed her hand, her voice full of concern. “Honey, don’t even say that! Your only job right now is to rest and keep that baby safe. Don’t worry about anything else.” She then shot Jasper a death glare. “And if he pulls any more of this bullshit, I’ll personally kick his ass!”
Megan wasn’t entirely joking with her threat.
Jasper stood there looking genuinely shaken. He stepped closer and gently took Valeria’s hand. “Val, this is completely my fault. I swear I’m going to take care of you properly from now on. I’m not going anywhere.”
At his words, Valeria managed a weak but grateful smile. “Jasper, I knew you still loved me and our baby.”
Megan looked at them with relief. “That’s what I want to hear! As long as you two are solid, I’m happy. Valeria, sweetie, I had our chef make some special bone broth—it’ll be here any minute. You just focus on getting strong.”
“You’re so good to me, Mrs. Hale. Thank you,” Valeria said softly.
After Megan left, seeing how much the Hale family treasured the baby growing inside her, Valeria couldn’t help but feel victorious. When Jasper wasn’t looking, a satisfied smirk flashed across her face.
Fucking perfect.
She’d gambled everything and won big.
Yeah, Valeria had orchestrated this whole thing!
Sometimes you had to go all-in to get what you wanted. She’d been backed into a corner—she needed to lock Jasper down, and this was her nuclear option.
After this scare, at least for the next few months, Jasper would be on his best behavior.
