Chapter 21
Jasper was stunned by her brutal assessment. This was how she really saw him now? She used to worship the ground he walked on.
“Don’t forget, Ana—your grandmother’s medical bills are only manageable because of my generosity. What other guy would be that generous with his money?”
Despite his aggressive tone, Anastasia remained completely unruffled.
“Actually, Jasper, let’s set the record straight. Every penny for my grandmother’s care came from my own salary and profit-sharing at J&A. You’ve never contributed a single dollar to her medical expenses. Maybe we should calculate exactly who owes whom.”
The audacity! To bring up money when he’d never spent a dime on her grandmother!
Jasper’s face flushed with embarrassed rage. “You’re being completely unreasonable!”
He stormed out, slamming the door so hard the glass walls shook. Anastasia remained exactly where she was, perfectly composed. A bitter smile crossed her lips. Had she been completely blind all these years? How had she never noticed what a selfish, gaslighting piece of shit Jasper really was? She’d thought she was living some fairytale romance, but love couldn’t survive reality—or his wandering dick.
Just as she was lost in thought, her phone buzzed.
“Ana, are you seeing what’s blowing up online right now? You need to check this immediately!” Tamia’s voice was crackling with excitement.
“What’s blowing up?”

Chapter 21
“Last night’s pool incident! That psycho Valeria tried to play victim, claiming you pushed her, but the security footage just went mega-viral. It’s trending on Twitter, TikTok, Instagram—everywhere! Everyone can see she’s the one who dragged you in! The internet is absolutely destroying her right now!”
Anastasia blinked in surprise. The footage had surfaced and gone viral that quickly? She was genuinely caught off guard by the speed. Though, considering how absolutely toxic Jasper and Valeria were, they deserved each other and this public humiliation.
“Ana, this has to be your husband’s doing, right? Who else has that kind of power to make something trend across every platform?”
Tamia was convinced only someone with Cassian Rhodes’ influence could orchestrate this level of viral exposure. The thought of such a powerful man going to war for his wife was incredibly romantic!
Anastasia remembered Cassian instructing Phillips last night, warmth flooding her chest.
“Yeah, definitely him,” she admitted softly, unable to suppress her smile.
“Holy shit! Cassian is absolutely perfect! A protective husband who can destroy your enemies with a phone call? Ana, you’re literally living every woman’s fantasy!”
Hearing her best friend’s enthusiasm made Anastasia’s heart flutter unexpectedly. Something about Cassian’s intimidating exterior hiding such protective instincts melted inside her. Their marriage might have started as pure convenience, but his fierce protection made her feel safer than she ever had.
‘You’re being dramatic,” Anastasia protested weakly, though her voice was obviously happy.
‘I’m not being dramatic! Cassian treats you like his precious queen—you better never let that man go!”
“But seriously, Valeria totally got what she deserved. The comments are absolutely savage. Let’s see if she ever tries to fuck with you again!”
Anastasia’s expression turned ice-cold thinking about her manipulative stepsister. Valeria absolutely deserved every bit of this public dragging.
After hanging up, Anastasia opened Twitter to find multiple trending hashtags: #ValeriaExposed #SecurityFootageReveals #StepsisterDrama #ToxicBehavior. The footage was everywhere—Twitter, TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts. Every major platform was hosting the evidence. The comments were absolutely brutal:
“This girl is straight up psychotic.” “The gaslighting is INSANE.” “How do you play victim after literally dragging someone into water???” “Rich girls really think they can lie their way out of anything.”
Reading the savage reactions was incredibly satisfying. Her phone rang again, and her face lit up seeing Cassian’s name.
‘Hey,” she answered, her voice automatically turning soft and warm.
‘Seen the trending topics?” His voice was calm, but she could hear underlying satisfaction.
‘Yeah, it’s everywhere. Twitter, TikTok, Instagram—the whole internet is dragging her. Thank you.”
There was a brief pause before he replied quietly, “Don’t thank me. This is what I do for what’s mine.”
The possessive way he said “mine” sent shivers down her spine. Anastasia gripped her phone tighter, warmth spreading through her entire body. Cassian wasn’t much of a talker, but his actions spoke volumes about how fiercely he protected the people he cared about. Maybe this marriage wouldn’t be as complicated as she’d initially feared.
“Pick you up after work. There’s this new place in SoHo I want to try with you.”
“Can’t wait.”
After hanging up, Anastasia felt genuinely giddy about their dinner plans.
Meanwhile, in Jasper’s office, Valeria was having a complete nuclear meltdown. Her hands shook as she scrolled through endless social media posts destroying her reputation. The security footage was crystal clear—undeniable proof of her manipulation and lies. Seeing Jasper’s confused and disappointed expression made her want to throw her phone across the room.
Fuck! Who had leaked that security footage and made it go viral across every platform? She’d never imagined last night’s incident had been captured so clearly, much less that it would explode across social media and become a global trending topic.
“Jasper, let me explain…” her voice trembled as she desperately tried to salvage the situation.
“Valeria, what the hell were you thinking? Why would you do something like that?” Jasper looked genuinely confused, realizing how foolish his defense of her had been.
Valeria opened and closed her mouth like a dying fish, unable to find any believable explanation. The security footage clearly showed her grabbing Anastasia and yanking them both into the pool.
“I… I was just… I was so angry because Ana always acts so fucking superior, and I just… snapped for a second…”
Jasper rubbed his temples. “Don’t pull psychotic stunts like that again. You’re supposed to be the one I’m choosing.”
Valeria immediately clung to him. “I know, baby. I promise I won’t.”
Jasper immediately called his PR contacts to get the trending topics suppressed, but strangely, every platform insisted the content had to stay up for the full viral cycle. By then, practically everyone with internet access would have seen it. Valeria was absolutely seething with rage. The scandal was also sending shockwaves through the Kingsley family. This was a complete PR disaster for their social standing.
When Sharpson saw the viral footage, his blood pressure spiked dangerously. He immediately called both daughters, demanding they come to the family mansion immediately.
When Anastasia saw her father’s name on her phone, she was genuinely surprised. Her expression turned arctic, but curiosity made her answer. Hearing Sharpson demand she come “home” immediately made her laugh coldly. Home? That place had stopped being her home the day he chose his mistress and her daughter over his own family. But she could guess exactly why he was calling. Anastasia was curious to see just how shamelessly hypocritical they could be.
After work, she called Cassian to apologetically explain she needed to handle some family drama.
“Be careful,” he said immediately. “Call me if you need backup.”
Cassian had researched the Kingsley family dynamics thoroughly and knew exactly how they’d treated Anastasia over the years. But she was his wife now. Anyone who hurt her would answer to him.
After hanging up, Anastasia took an Uber to the Kingsley estate in the Hamptons. She knew she was walking into a snake pit, but she wasn’t the same person who used to let them steamroll her. Time to show them exactly who they were dealing with now.
