Chapter 90

Jasper’s expression darkened, irritation creeping into his voice. “Do you have any idea what kind of guy Cassian is? He’s not serious about you, Anastasia. Don’t let him play you.”

Anastasia let out a bitter laugh, her eyes flashing with contempt. “Did you seriously forget that you’re the one who dumped me? You don’t get to have opinions about my life anymore. How Cassian treats me is none of your damn business.”

Jasper’s jaw worked silently—she’d caught him completely off guard. He clenched his fists, his voice taking on a regretful edge. “Look, I know I screwed up with you, but… I don’t want to see you get used by some rich…”

Anastasia’s expression turned ice-cold, her voice carrying a clear warning. “Watch your mouth, Jasper. I know exactly what kind of man Cassian is—better than you ever did. And as for you… we’re done. Stop interfering in my life.”

Jasper’s face flushed with anger as he shot to his feet. “You’re being naive as hell! Guys like Cassian don’t do serious relationships! You’re just his flavor of the month!”

Anastasia stood up too, her eyes blazing. “My life isn’t your concern anymore. Cassian is my husband, so maybe show some respect.”

“Husband?” Jasper scoffed. “Come on, Ana, if you’re gonna lie, at least make it believable. There’s no way in hell Cassian Rhodes married you.”

Without a word, Anastasia pulled out her phone, scrolled to a photo of their marriage certificate, and slid it across the table. “Unless you’re blind, that’s our marriage license.”

Asshole thinks everyone’s like him. She’d wasted years with Jasper, and he’d never even considered marriage. Did he think her time was worthless? Or maybe he’d never been serious about her at all—just stringing her along for fun. And now he had the nerve to assume Cassian was doing the same thing. Like she wasn’t worth marrying.

Fuck that.

Jasper’s face went white as he stared at the screen, his forehead creasing into deep lines. “This isn’t real.”

“How is it not real? Look—our names, official seal, completely legal,” Anastasia said, deliberately pointing out each detail to twist the knife deeper.

After Jasper had thoroughly examined the document, he looked up with disbelief. “This has to be fake.”

It has to be fake. There was no way Cassian Rhodes would marry his leftovers. A guy like that wouldn’t touch another man’s discarded girlfriend.

Anastasia rolled her eyes. “Are you serious right now? You think I’d risk a felony charge for a fake marriage certificate? Do you even hear yourself?”

Jasper sat in stunned silence, his face dark as a storm cloud.

“We’re over, Jasper. We have been for a while,” Anastasia said, putting her phone away, her voice calm but final. “Whatever’s going on between Cassian and me isn’t your business. Believe it or don’t believe it—I don’t give a shit. It’s the truth.”

Jasper’s face was a mask of fury, his knuckles white where he gripped the edge of the table. He still couldn’t wrap his head around the fact that Anastasia was actually married. A sick feeling twisted in his stomach as reality started to sink in.

He forced out a cold laugh, his voice dripping with sarcasm. “A guy like him could never actually care about you. You’re just a toy he’s playing with…”

Anastasia felt a momentary pang, but quickly pushed it aside. She met his gaze directly, a slight smile playing at her lips. “You think everyone treats relationships like a game just because you do? I know exactly who Cassian is, and at least he was willing to make it official. You… you never even thought about it.”

Jasper’s mouth opened and closed like a fish, panic and regret flashing in his eyes.
