Chapter 1016
Grace let out a cold snort and sat down on the sofa with bold defiance. โMy patience is limited. Youโd better go get him out here now. As for trespassing, youโre welcome to call the police. Iโll gladly deal with them.โ
Grace had never been afraid of confrontation, but she didnโt seek it either. But now that these people had pushed her to the edge, how could she possibly stay quiet? She had only two precious daughters, and both had been hurt by their son. Did they really think they could just play dumb and walk away unscathed? Their son might be out of his mind, but they still had a father and a mother.
And behind them, a family and a corporation. None of this was make-believe. They were all adults, and sooner or later, theyโd have to pay for their actions. Sitting here doing nothing and refusing to acknowledge the truth wouldnโt lead anywhere good.
Carol stood frozen, trembling where she was, unsure of what to do in the face of Graceโs dominance. She was nothing more than a pampered lite who had never dealt with the business world, let alone involved herself in any commercial dealings. She knew full well that if she tried to interfere, Albert would only grow suspicious. So, it was better to remain on the sidelines. That was exactly why Graceโs aura overwhelmed hers completely. They werenโt even operating on the same level.
โI really donโt know anythingโฆ Thereโs no point pressuring me like thisโฆโ Carol used every ounce of strength she had just to get that full sentence out. โIโm just a woman whoโs never touched business. Even if you question me to death, I wonโt have any answers.โ
Grace finally understood โ Carol was ready to throw in the towel. Either way, it wasnโt going to affect her. Driving her away would simplify everything. Grace crossed her arms and sneered, scanning her from head to toe. โAre you sure you still want to keep pretending?โ
Carolโs eyes flickered as she feigned ignorance. โI told you, I donโt know anything.โ That was exactly the plan in her mind. As long as they couldnโt find Albert, Grace and her people would probably leave. And truthfully, she didnโt know anything anyway. Besides, they were looking for Albertโwhat was the point of making things hard for her?

At that moment, Albert was upstairs secretly observing everything. He had also kept Julian close by, afraid he might suddenly run downstairs and mess things up. He and Carol shared the same thought. If they couldnโt find him, Grace and her entourage would likely leave. He was completely cornered now, with no other option but to hide. Albert was surviving in the cracks.
Already overwhelmed with anxiety, he turned his head and saw his son crouched on the floor like a fool, fiddling with something unknown. Frustration surged within him, and he kicked Julian without warning, growling in a low voice, โAll you do is play with useless crap. Just like you โ completely useless.โ
Julian didnโt respond after being kicked. His gaze darkened, long bangs falling over his eyes, perfectly concealing the vicious glint within them. Albert had always been like this โ insisting he was never wrong, placing the blame on everyone else. He didnโt necessarily fight others head-on, but he always made sure to shift all responsibility away from himself.
