Chapter 1091

Anyway, none of this was something she should be worrying about.

With a playful curve to her lips, the woman said, โ€œCome on, Daniel, donโ€™t let things like this get under your skin. Letโ€™s just enjoy ourselves while we can. These things always have a way of working themselves out.โ€

Her words made sense to Daniel, and he found himself agreeing.

He scooped her up in his arms and carried her into another room. She knew exactly what that room was for. After all, she was well aware of the kind of people Daniel kept there. That was exactly why she worked so hard to please him.

Being on Danielโ€™s good side came with plenty of perks. But, as the saying went, being around a man like him was like walking a tightrope over a pit of lionsโ€”every word and move had to be measured to keep him appeased. Only then could she enjoy the rewards. Daniel could be a strange man at times, but when she pleased him, his generosity was never lacking. She wasnโ€™t foolishโ€“if staying close to him meant reaping that many benefits, of course she intended to keep things going.

Daniel knew exactly what was in the minds of women like her, but it didnโ€™t bother him. Money was just numbers to himโ€“nothing more. If people were willing to flatter him for it, he was more than happy to let them.

When it was over, Danielโ€™s face was filled with satisfaction. He hadnโ€™t indulged any of his more peculiar tastes with herโ€“he understood there was a difference between the occasional indulgence and constant overindulgence. Sometimes it was worth keeping a few โ€œnormalโ€ people in his circle.

He tossed a bank card onto the table, his tone light and careless. โ€œAlright, if you need anything, buy it yourself. Donโ€™t contact me unless itโ€™s important. Keep these people in line for me, and youโ€™ll find Iโ€™m very generous in return.โ€

The woman nodded in understanding. After so many years at Danielโ€™s side, she had seen plenty. Nothing mattered more than money. Only when she saw her wallet grow fatter, bit by bit, did she feel a real sense of security.

Her voice turned silky. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Daniel. With this small group, I can keep everything perfectly under control.โ€

Daniel didnโ€™t answerโ€“he simply put on his clothes and left. With her, their relationship was more like that of business partners. Years of working in step had built a certain trust. So, when he left things in her hands, he did so without hesitation.

Once he was gone, the woman dressed as well, her expression shifting back to one of cool detachment. It was nothing like the look sheโ€™d shown Daniel moments ago. Now she carried herself with a touch of aloof elegance. She knew perfectly well that the people she was about to face were nothing more than worthless stock. They had no value, no way of bringing her any gain. This was simply doing Daniel a favor, keeping an eye on themโ€“nothing more. Because she understood this so clearly, she kept her boundaries sharp and her focus clear.

She pulled on her clothes and opened the door to the room she hadnโ€™t entered earlier. Inside, it was pitch-dark. She didnโ€™t think much of it. The moment she stepped in, the rattle of chains became louder. It was obvious everyone inside was afraid of her. Pinching her nose in distaste, she waved a hand in front of her face, making her disgust at the place plain.

โ€œI said, all of you better behave.โ€
