Judy let out a sigh and stepped closer to him. “Why bother getting worked up over her, she’s just a kid.”
“A kid?” Kenneth scoffed. “She’s already in her twenties, old enough to be talking about marriage. She’s not a child anymore.”
He reached out and wrapped his arm around Judy’s shoulders. “Besides, you two are about the same age. Why bother defending her? She just treated you like that.”
Nestling into his arms, Judy shook her head sensibly. “It’s fine. And she wasn’t wrong either. Right now, I really am relying on you, and I’m still living in your house.”
