She wasn’t going to let a single one of her shares be taken away, nor would she let them all fall cheaply into Tessa’s hands.

At that, Grace suddenly straightened in her seat.

“If you put it that way, then I’ll make myself clear in front of all these shareholders. The shares I promised you before–I’m taking back half.”

Aurora didn’t hesitate. “Fine.”

That outcome, losing half, was already more than enough for her.

Grace narrowed her eyes, surprised at how quickly Aurora agreed.

Could there be some trick behind this?

Even Tessa hadn’t expected Aurora to be so decisive.

Seeing their reactions, Aurora could already guess what they thought of her.

But the truth was, she didn’t care about any of it. As long as she had the portion that belonged to her, that was enough.

The rest–however Grace handled it–had nothing to do with her.

Aurora spoke directly. “No matter what you think, I only want the part that belongs to me. From here on, I won’t interfere in company affairs.”

Her meaning couldn’t have been clearer–whatever problems might arise in the future would no longer have anything to do with her.

Everyone in the room was sharp enough to understand.

Grace wasn’t a petty woman.

Since things had come to this, there was no reason to hold on any longer.

She turned to the others. “You all heard her. This was Aurora’s decision. Even as her mother, I can’t interfere. She’s grown now, with her own mind. I’ll divide her shares as they should be divided.”

Then she gave her assurance. “But rest assured, your profits will not be reduced by even a fraction. Even without Aurora, I’ll groom others in management to take her place.”

Hearing this, Tessa felt a flicker of relief settle in her chest.

With Grace’s words, it was clear she wouldn’t be left out.

Since there was someone to take Aurora’s place, Tessa felt reassured.

If it came down to it, she could be that person herself–why should Grace bother finding someone else?

She knew her chance had come.

Aurora nodded and gave Grace a serious thanks. “It’s alright, Madam Grace–no, Mom. For you to do this much for me, I’m already grateful.”

She turned to the other directors. “And please don’t worry. I won’t be taking any of the company’s resources with me. Handle them however you like. From here on, my affairs are my own, and you needn’t concern yourselves.”

With everything laid out openly, there was nothing more for her to hold back.

Grace nodded. “Very well, then. I approve your resignation.”

Aurora bowed her head sincerely, then thanked her once more. “Mom, thank you for raising me and guiding me this far. From now on, I intend to find my own path.”

She followed with a respectful bow to the rest of the room.

The shareholders looked on, their hearts heavy.

With their golden goose walking away, their year-end bonuses would no doubt shrink, and no one knew who could possibly fill her place.

But Tessa felt no such regret.

If Aurora left, it meant she would finally have the chance to rise and involve herself in the company’s affairs.

As for her mother, one daughter gone was a loss she’d have to accept–whether she liked it or not.

Grace’s eyes followed Aurora’s departing figure.

Her steps were firm, her exit resolute, without the slightest hesitation.
