Chapter 1186
Hearing those words, Graceโs eyes darkened. Even Jason couldnโt read what was going through her mind.
Her thoughts were in turmoil. She hadnโt expected that with just Aurora leaving, so many projects would be affected. Was Walton Corporation really so dependent on one Aurora? What, then, did all her years of building this foundation count for?
Just as Jason was about to speak again, the office door was suddenly pushed open with force. Both Grace and Jason looked up to see several major shareholders storming in.
Seeing Jason there too, one of them spoke directly. โMadam Grace, Mr. Jason, since youโre both here, Iโll just say it straight.โ
Grace already had a rough idea of what he intended, but she still motioned for him to continue. โUncle, donโt hold back. Whatever you have to say, speak openly.โ
Indeed, many of the companyโs higher-ups were old relatives of the Walton family, or from its side branches. Relying on their large shareholdings and the fact that William had passed early, they had long wanted to seize control of the company. Fortunately, Graceโs capabilities were strong enough to prevent them from carving it up. But because of that, these relatives had built up resentment against her. Her methods were too sharp. When she first took charge, she had cut away many side branches and removed their planted spies. It was exactly this decisiveness that left the executives with no chance to profit, making their dissatisfaction toward her grow deeper.
Not that Grace cared. She knew exactly what she was doing. Other peopleโs opinions meant little to her.
The man Grace addressed as uncle stepped forward. โSince you call me uncle, then today Iโll speak to you as an elder.โ
Grace merely inclined her head, unfazed by his aura. Jason, however, standing at the side, had never witnessed such a scene before. He couldnโt make sense of what these executives were trying to do. Now Aurora had only been gone a few days, and they were already being so disrespectful to Grace. Were they trying to seize power? Could it be that Walton Corporation was about to change hands from within?
โUncle, whatever you want to say, speak freely,โ Grace said, showing no fear toward them. She had already seen their tricks years ago. If they wanted to try again, it would be nothing more than a mild irritation.
โDo you realize how much damage youโve caused the company by letting Aurora go?โ her uncle jabbed a finger toward her. โBack then, because of your heavy-handed ways, this corporation ended up filled only with your people. We side branches havenโt been able to cultivate a single capable successor. After all these years, donโt you think itโs time you reflect on that?โ
โYes, how could you be so selfish?โ
โIf not for your selfishness back then, our side of the family would have produced more than a few outstanding talents by now.โ
โItโs all because of you. You feared weโd take over the company, so you kept all the power for yourself.โ
The others quickly echoed him. They were the ones who had always been suppressed under Graceโs rule, never daring to resist. But now that her uncle, such a heavyweight, had spoken up, of course they would rally to his side. After all, he too came from the familyโs side branch.
