Chapter 1206
Maybe it was simply that they were used to it, but nestled in Lucasโ arms, Aurora felt utterly at ease. Holding her close as they drifted to sleep, Lucas too felt completely content. It was precisely because they had grown accustomed to this closeness that they cherished this hard-won happiness even more. The two of them had truly been through so much.
With his chin resting lightly against her hair, Lucas asked in a low voice, โHas the studio run into any trouble lately?โ
โWhy ask that all of a sudden?โ Aurora replied softly.
โIf thereโs anything I can help with, you have to tell me right away.โ His arms tightened around her. โI want us to be open with each other. Donโt keep your distance from me. Weโre husband and wifeโI want to be able to help you.โ
โAlright, I know.โ A faint blush touched Auroraโs ears. She had no defense against words like his. After all this time, she understood what Lucas truly meant. He only wanted the best for her, never wanting her to suffer any grievance. If there was any way he could help, he wanted to share the burden. Aurora knew all of this in her heart. Feeling the warmth radiating from him, she was filled with quiet comfort.
Yet his reaction today still left her with doubts. Was he really not hiding something from her? If not, then why had he reacted that way? She had only been testing him, yet he had gone rigid all over. That response alone left her suspicious. Aurora narrowed her eyes slightly, but in the end said nothing, simply lying quietly in his embrace.
Neither of them spoke another word. The night stretched long. And just holding each other like this, both felt a deep sense of peace.
The next morning. Lucas got up early to make breakfast for Aurora. By the time she woke, the warmth on his side of the bed was already gone. After she freshened up and stepped into the living room, she saw him moving about in the kitchen. Tall and broad-shouldered, yet wearing an apronโthe contrast was almost comical. Aurora couldnโt help but smile at the sight. She walked straight into the kitchen and wrapped her arms around his waist from behind.
โWhy are you making breakfast again?โ she asked, tilting her head up at him. The past few days they had eaten out often, both too busy with work for him to cook. She had even felt bad for himโworking all day and still preparing meals for her. Who had that much energy to spare? But today, here he was back in the kitchen. Lucas quickly stopped what he was doing, turning to push her gently away. โAlright, alright, donโt linger in here. The smoke will ruin your clothes.โ
โAnd what about you?โ Aurora blinked, a little thrown off by his reaction. She had imagined an intimate moment first thing in the morning, but instead, he was being so practical.
โIโve got an apron on, havenโt I? Donโt worry, breakfast will be ready soon.โ Aurora parted her lips in surprise before nodding. โAlright then. Arenโt you busy today?โ
โNo matter how busy I am, I can still make you breakfast. Everything else can wait.โ Lucas tapped her nose lightly. โIn my heart, youโll always come first.โ
