Chapter 1211
Hearing that, Daniel began to hesitate. He was caught between both sides.
โThisโฆโ He scratched his head awkwardly, clearly at a loss. Aurora noticed his conflicted look and couldnโt quite understand why, but she still spoke plainly. โMr. Lewis, I can see the position youโre in. Thereโs actually a simple solutionโjust follow your heart. Who is it you truly want to work with?โ
โWho I want to work withโฆ really depends on your attitude, Miss Walton.โ The words slipped out of Danielโs mouth before he could stop himself.
Aurora froze, not reacting at first.
โMr. Lewis, what do you mean by that?โ
Meeting her questioning gaze, Daniel instantly regretted what he had said. If she picked up on it, wouldnโt that expose Lucasโs involvement? How would he explain himself later?
โI didnโt mean anything,โ he said quickly, forcing a laugh. โLike I said before, I value your ability, Miss Walton. From the very beginning, youโre the one Iโve wanted to work with.โ
Aurora fell into thought, hesitating as well. After all, she no longer had anything to do with Walton Corporation. She had broken away completely. To just hand this project back to Walton Corporation outrightโher heart resisted the idea.
โBut you can see my situation. My studio wonโt be up and running anytime soon.โ Auroraโs tone carried her own conflict. โWhat if that delays your project?โ
Daniel wavered too at her words. She had a pointโwhat mattered most was the project itself. If delays piled up, it would be his own interests that suffered in the end.
Yet when he thought of Lucas, he realized he couldnโt easily explain that side either. It truly left him torn.
โButโฆโ Daniel trailed off, unable to find the right words.
Aurora finally understood what he meant. So, she spoke up to ease the tension. โAlright then, let me ask you one question, Mr. Lewis. Do you actually want to work with Walton Corporation?โ
โIf you were still at Walton Corporation, then yes, I would work with them.โ His reply was firm, without the hesitation from before.
Hearing that, Aurora understood completely.
โBut the fact is, Iโm no longer with Walton Corporation.โ She smiled. โIf you werenโt choosing them for their strength alone, but because you wanted to work with me, then my advice isโyou donโt need to work with them at all.โ
Her decisiveness caught Daniel off guard. He had expected her to drag things out, at least for a while. Now he realized she was someone who made decisions quickly and firmly. He couldnโt help but admire that. To him, anyone with that kind of strengthโman or womanโwas worthy of respect.
โMiss Walton, I didnโt expect you to be so straightforward. Iโve learned something from you today,โ Daniel said sincerely, offering an apology.
Aurora, seeing his earnest expression, felt a little embarrassed. She quickly waved her hand.
โMr. Lewis, thereโs no need to apologize. The truth is, this situation really is my responsibility. I started discussing the project with you before I had settled things at home. Now that this has happened, itโs not something either of us wanted to see.โ
