Chapter 1227

Daniel was moved, if only a little, by Tessaโ€™s sincerity. And truth be told, this contract would bring him considerable profit.

โ€œAll right then, just leave the contract here. Iโ€™ll think it over,โ€ Daniel said with a faint smile.

Tessa froze. She had already offered such generous termsโ€“why was he still unwilling?

โ€œMr. Lewis, are there conditions in the contract youโ€™re dissatisfied with?โ€ she pressed, unable to hold back her curiosity.

She couldnโ€™t understand it. She had practically handed him free profit, so why hesitate? By all logic, he should have accepted immediately. Yet all she got was, โ€œIโ€™ll consider it.โ€ That was hard to swallow.

โ€œNo, the terms are quite satisfactory,โ€ Daniel said, flipping through the contract again. He was indeed pleased with what she proposed.

But the thought of Lucas made him pause.

Hearing that only deepened Tessaโ€™s confusion. โ€œIn that case, when will we sign?โ€ she asked quickly. She had always been a woman of action, and now, with his words, she was sure he had no objections to the deal itself. Something else was holding him back. What she wanted was for Daniel to put aside whatever doubts he had and simply move forward with the partnership.

โ€œLetโ€™s wait a little, Miss Walton,โ€ Daniel deflected smoothly. โ€œWeโ€™re both businesspeopleโ€“thereโ€™s no need to rush. Besides, Iโ€™m right here. Iโ€™m not going anywhere. If this project proves suitable, Iโ€™ll be the one to contact you.โ€

Hearing Danielโ€™s words, Tessa finally felt a weight lift from her chest, though she still wasnโ€™t fully at ease. After all, the contract wasnโ€™t signed yet.

โ€œI hope youโ€™ll give me more consideration, Mr. Lewis,โ€ Tessa pressed on. โ€œYouโ€™ve seen for yourself, the terms Iโ€™ve offered are very attractive. Weโ€™re practically giving up all our profit and letting you take the earnings.โ€

Daniel nodded with a smile. โ€œMiss Walton, I can see your sincerity, and I understand what youโ€™re trying to say. Rest assured, Iโ€™ll give it serious thought.โ€

โ€œGood. If youโ€™ll truly consider it, then I can be at ease.โ€

Tessa smiled and nodded, then politely excused herself. โ€œI still have other matters to attend to, so Iโ€™ll be heading back.โ€

โ€œAll right, Iโ€™ll have someone escort you out.โ€

Tessa shook her head with a smile. โ€œNo need, I can manage on my own.โ€

โ€œStill, let my secretary accompany you.โ€

Seeing Danielโ€™s insistence, she didnโ€™t refuse.

โ€œThen Iโ€™ll trouble you.โ€

Daniel nodded with a smile.

The secretary was waiting by the door when Tessa stepped out. Catching sight of her, the secretary gave a small nod. โ€œMiss Walton, this way please.โ€

Tessa returned the courtesy. โ€œThank you, I appreciate it.โ€

โ€œThereโ€™s no need to thank me. Itโ€™s just part of my job.โ€

The secretary maintained her professional smile throughout. Now that she knew Tessa was the Walton heiress, her attitude had grown even friendlier. If she could build a friendship with Tessa, her own path to success would be that much smoother.
