“Mr. Carter, what should we do now?”

Lucas glanced at the message, his expression calm.

“This doesn’t require my opinion. Ask Daniel—whoever he thinks is suitable, he can work with.”

He paused, then added, “It doesn’t matter who he partners with, but absolutely not Joseph.”

Hearing this, Desmond immediately understood.

“Mr. Carter, don’t worry. I’ll make sure he gets the instructions clearly.”

“That’s fine.”

Lucas lifted his hand, signaling Desmond to handle it.

With a small nod, Desmond left the office.

Back in his own office, Desmond sent Daniel a message.

“Handle the project as you see fit, as long as it’s not with Joseph.”

Daniel had been waiting anxiously for a reply.

When he finally saw the message, he didn’t text back—he called directly.

Desmond hesitated for a moment but eventually answered.

The moment the line connected, Daniel’s voice came through in a near-complaint. “Mr. Watson, what should I do? Miss Walton from Walton Corporation came to me today—it was Tessa.”

Worried Desmond might misunderstand, he quickly clarified the name.

But Desmond already saw the situation clearly.

“She offered some very tempting terms, didn’t she?”

Daniel was taken aback—he hadn’t expected Desmond to guess it so easily.

He didn’t deny it and spoke plainly about the matter.

“Yes, she even offered an additional five percent concession on top of the previous contract.”

Daniel scratched his head, a smile tugging at his lips. “To be honest, Mr. Watson, I’m very tempted.”

“Then let me put it plainly for you,” Desmond said seriously. “Do you want short-term profit, or long-term profit?”

Hearing that, Daniel instantly understood what Desmond meant.

“So…?” He deliberately pretended not to get it.

“My point is, you must not work with Joseph.” Desmond let out a cold laugh.

“If you go against Mr. Carter’s instructions, I won’t be able to protect you. You know exactly what your standing in this industry is.”

At those words, Daniel broke into a cold sweat.

He fully caught the threatening undertone.

“All right, Mr. Watson, I won’t bother you further.” He forced a sycophantic smile. “I understand now. I know who this project should go to.”

Desmond wasn’t the least bit surprised.

“Since you’ve figured it out, I have nothing more to say.”

He added, “I’ve made myself clear. The rest depends on how you handle it.”

With that assurance, Desmond hung up without another word.

If it were him, he’d wait until Aurora’s studio was fully established, then partner with her.
