Chapter 1259
Auroraโs words struck everyone as sharp and clear-headed.
Megan clapped her hands enthusiastically. โAurora, Iโll wave the flag for you! That was a queenโs speech if Iโve ever heard one!โ
Ian joined in, applauding, his eyes shining with admiration.
The crowd around them quickly followed, swept up in the moment. After all, Auroraโs response had been perfectly reasonedโno one could find fault with it.
Even so, the black-clad reporter only paused for a moment. Just as he was about to press another question, Aurora cut in first.
โI understandโyouโre eager to ask me something, thatโs why youโre in such a rush. But even if youโre eager, you donโt need to shove the mic into my mouth. I had breakfast already, and Iโm not that hungry.โ
โHa ha ha ha ha!โ
The whole place burst into laughter.
No one had expected Aurora to be so quick-witted.
Megan was doubled over, laughing until tears nearly spilled. โAurora, youโre incredible! I never realized you were such a funny person.โ
โThatโs right, and every word the boss says makes perfect sense,โ Ian chimed in.
Lucasโ gaze softened, his eyes lit with amusement and filled with deep affection.
The reporter in black, however, didnโt look nearly as amused. His face tightened with irritation. Still, remembering his purpose, he pressed on.
โI recall reading that Miss Walton was involved in a project concerning the land in Southcrest. Now that youโre no longer with the company, do you know what will become of that project?โ
Auroraโs eyes narrowed. In that instant, she knew something was wrong.
It was obvious this reporter had been sentโmost likely by her mother or by Tessa.
If he hadnโt asked that specific question, Aurora might have remained unsure. But the moment it left his lips, she and her team could all see exactly who was behind it.
Auroraโs lips curved in a smile, but the expression never reached her eyes. Anyone with sense could tell that she was furious.
Yet, in front of so many people, she kept her composure and her dignity intact.
Aurora said, โThat projectโI donโt recall ever making it public. So, tell me, how exactly did you find out about it?โ
The reporter was speechless. For a moment, he had no idea what to say.
Even the others began watching him differently.
They might have wanted inside news, but resorting to underhanded tactics was not something they would ever do.
It was clear this reporter had obtained the information through improper channels.
People like that were the ones they despised most.
Murmurs spread quickly around the black-clad reporter.
His expression grew more uneasy. Behind the mask, his face had tightened with nerves.
The people who hired him hadnโt explained this part clearly, and now he didnโt know how to respond.
Everyoneโs eyes were on him, waiting to see how he would answer.
After a pause, he finally hedged. โThis information came from Mr. Lewisโ company.โ
Aurora looked at him seriously. โIf thatโs what youโre saying, then Iโll certainly be asking Mr. Warren why matters that arenโt even finalized were leaked to outsiders ahead of time.โ
She hadnโt intended to press so hard, but this reporter clearly had no interest in telling the truth.
The reporterโs patience frayed. โI already told you, someone from Mr. Lewisโ company let it slip. Why are you being so difficult about it?โ
