It was her fault. She'd kept her identity from him back then.
Fuming, Joseph stormed forward, determined to confront Aurora. What had she taken him for during those three years?
"Move aside, I need to talk to her," Joseph called out to the people in front of him.
Someone recognized him and teased, "Well, if it isn't Mr. Hunt. I heard you and Miss Aurora used to be a thing. What happened? You two broke up?"
As soon as that was said, more heads turned in curiosity.
"Didnโt expect Miss Aurora to have had a relationship with the Hunt familyโs heir."
"Only people from Westbridge know about this. Back then, the two of them were together for two or three years."
Joseph didnโt have time to waste on these people. He frowned and snapped, "I don't have time to chat. Move. I need to speak with someone."
"What's the rush, Mr. Hunt? We're just curious about your past with Miss Aurora. Did you even know who she was at the time?"
Whispers rippled through the crowd.
"He probably didn't. If he had, there's no way they would've broken up."
"I heard the breakup was pretty ugly. The gifts he gave her were all fake. Worse, he took everything back."
"Really? The Hunt family doesn't exactly look like they're short on moneyโฆ"
Each sarcastic comment pierced Josephโs ears. His fists clenched tight.
"This has nothing to do with you. Move. No matter what, the Hunt family can easily crush a small business like yours, donโt you think?" He stared down the man who had been blocking his way, a cold threat in his eyes.
The man swallowed hard and looked at him nervously. "Iโฆ I was just joking." Then, despite his words, he stepped aside without another word. Heโd only meant to poke some fun and didnโt expect Joseph to actually lose his temper.
