Chapter 134

Thinking back carefully, Tessa never admitted she was the younger heiress of the Walton family that day. Heโ€™d been too impulsive. Now that he was forced to face the reality, Joseph reluctantly looked at Tessa and muttered an apology. โ€œApologies, Miss Walton. I mistook you for someone else that day.โ€

Joseph ignored the voices around him.

But Julian had no intention of letting him off so easily. โ€œSo what? You got the wrong person, and a simple apology makes it all okay?โ€

โ€œWhat do you want, then?โ€ Joseph turned to face Julianโ€™s icy expression, completely at a loss as to what this man was after. He had only heard bits and pieces about Julianโ€“knew his family background was decentโ€“but as for the man himself, Joseph thought he was just a wolf in sheepโ€™s clothing.

Julian curved his lips into a faint smile. โ€œI donโ€™t want anything. Just sayingโ€“if you are so blind to your surroundings, you really shouldnโ€™t show your face around us. I donโ€™t have the patience for clowns.โ€

Joseph understood the mockery in Julianโ€™s words, but with so many eyes watching, he didnโ€™t want to escalate the situation. โ€œFine. Iโ€™ll make sure to remember Miss Tessaโ€™s face clearly next time. I wonโ€™t mistake her for someone else again.โ€

Julian let out a cold snort, glancing at the two fist marks on Josephโ€™s face. In the end, he didnโ€™t press any further. Among prominent families, nothing mattered more than reputation and appearances. Everything else could be negotiated.

โ€œSince it was a misunderstanding, I hope youโ€™ll be more careful in the future, Mr. Hunt,โ€ Tessa said with a polite smile. She couldnโ€™t afford to make an enemy out of Joseph now. There was no telling when he might prove useful.
