“Honey, you can’t blame me for this either.”

Edward sounded just as wronged. “I was in the dark too. That brat kept it from both of us until now.”

Diana thought it over and realized he was right.

When she turned and saw the pitiful look on Edward’s face, she couldn’t help but laugh, giving his head a light pat. “Alright, the kids will be here any minute. Don’t sit there looking so pitiful.”

“Fine.”

The two bickered playfully while the servants nearby continued their work, entirely unfazed. They were used to this–it was nothing new.

Indeed, the couple’s affection was well known.

But when they saw Aurora, they finally understood the phrase: there is always someone greater. Her beauty was nothing like the uniform, polished faces of celebrities. It was unmistakably natural. She stood there like a vision stepped out of a painting. The servants didn’t even dare speak too loudly, afraid of disturbing her. She looked like a woodland spirit descended from the mountains. And beside Lucas, the two of them seemed perfectly made for each other.

“Don’t be nervous. I’ll be right here with you.”

As they reached the entrance, Lucas turned his head and murmured to her. The atmosphere between them was so intimate, no one else could intrude.

Aurora nodded. “I trust you.”

From the entire journey, she had seen it clearly–Lucas truly cared for her, truly cherished her. To say “I trust you” came easily now, without the slightest hesitation, because that was exactly how Lucas made her feel.
