Listen to this chapter:

But he never got an answer. The security guards dragged him out before he could.

Even as he was being taken away, Joseph was still shouting, "No, Aurora Walton, I don't believe it! I know you still have feelings for me! Youโ€™re with that pretty boy now, but youโ€™ll never be happy. Youโ€™ll regret it!"

His voice lingered in the air, echoing in Auroraโ€™s ears.

She frowned slightly, feeling a little annoyed deep down.

Lucas wrapped his arm around her shoulder and gently comforted her. "Alright, donโ€™t let trash like that upset you. Heโ€™s not worth it."

"Youโ€™re right." Aurora smiled and turned to the other guests. "Sorry for letting you see such a scene. Itโ€™s a personal matter, nothing to dwell on. Letโ€™s just laugh it off and not let it spoil the mood."

"Yes, yes, Miss Aurora handled it perfectly. Thatโ€™s exactly how you deal with a man like that."

Her colleagues were all a little shocked by her decisive approach, whispering among themselves.

"Looks like Aurora was way too soft on Chuck back when they were in the company."

"Exactly. Who knew these trashy men would pop up one after another like mushrooms after the rain, all coming for Aurora."

"If it were me, Iโ€™d be even more ruthless than her."

"Lifeโ€™s already hard enough. The last thing I need is a line of useless exes showing up in front of me. How could anyone stand that?"

Everyone around admired Auroraโ€™s boldnessโ€“no one stood up for Joseph.

After all, they knew whose turf this was.

Tessa stood beside Julian, keeping up appearances, but she was gritting her molars so hard they were about to crack.

Her fists were clenched tight, her body trembling slightly.

In her mind, she was cursing Joseph and calling him a useless idiot.

He couldnโ€™t even handle something this small.

Chapter 139

Aurora was just a woman, and he still hadnโ€™t taken care of her.

Julian noticed something was off about her and lowered his head to ask, "You okay? Youโ€™ve been acting off since earlier."

"Iโ€™m fine. Just a little worried about my sister, thatโ€™s all."

Tessa let out a quiet sigh. "That Joseph really is something. With so many people watching, he still treated my sister like that. Heโ€™s way too rude."

Julianโ€™s eyes flashed slightly as he chimed in, "Youโ€™re right. A man like that isnโ€™t worth keeping around. Seeing him thrown out is satisfying."

Tessa pressed her red lips together and said nothing more.

Since Joseph turned out to be useless, sheโ€™d have to handle things herself.

She watched as Aurora stood among the industryโ€™s elites, surrounded by powerful figures, all throwing around terms she didnโ€™t understand, flattery flowing endlessly.

Jealousy burned behind Tessaโ€™s eyes, a faint red creeping into her gaze.

Why?

Those admiring eyes shouldโ€™ve been on her.

She was the elder heiress of the Walton family!

Just because of her poor health, did she have to be kept away from everything related to the company?

In the end, it was all because their mother was biased.

She dressed it up as concern for her health, but the truth was she didnโ€™t want Tessa competing with Aurora for control of the company.

Fury rose in her chest, her breathing growing heavy.

She glanced toward her mother, who was also surrounded by people.

Grace had been smiling the entire evening, cheerful and gracious to everyone.

"Madam Grace, youโ€™ve really raised a remarkable daughter."

"Oh, not at all. Mr. Warren, your son is also such a talented young man."

"Youโ€™re too kind. That boy of mine only knows how to enjoy himself. He just won a few awards at school, thatโ€™s all."
