Chapter 1479
Tessa turned on her, eyes flashing. โWhatโs that supposed to mean, Aurora? You barely come home, and when you finally do, you talk to Mom like this? Do you even know how much she worries about you when youโre not around? She talks about you all the time.โ
Aurora arched a brow. โIs that so? If she really missed me that much, but still treats me like this, then maybe I should ask what you have been whispering in her ear?โ
โWhat are you implying?โ Tessa demanded.
Ignoring her, Aurora turned to Grace. โMom, havenโt you noticed? Every time you and I argue, itโs because Tessa jumps in and stirs things up. If she didnโt fan the flames, would we even be fighting?โ
Grace started to think about it, but Tessa quickly cut her off.
โAurora!โ Her eyes shimmered with tears as she looked wounded. โIs that what you really think of me? That Iโd ever do something like that?โ
Aurora stared at her in silence, feeling both exasperated and faintly amused. It was the same act and linesโhow many times was Tessa going to recycle this performance?
She sighed and rubbed her ear. โDonโt you ever get tired of saying the same thing over and over?โ
Tessa blinked, confused. โWhat do you mean by that?โ
Aurora took a step forward, closing the distance between them. Her gaze locked on Tessa, sharp and unyielding. โYou know exactly what I mean.โ
โSame old story,โ Aurora said coldly. โYou never change a thing. Honestly, itโs pathetic.โ
Her eyes were sharp and unyielding, a chill in them that cut straight through the air, like a lone wolf watching its prey from the shadows. The intensity made even Graceโs heart tremble. When had Auroraโs presence become so commanding? Back when she was still at the company, sheโd never shown such strength. Was it because of her time with Lucas? Had she grown that much under his influence? Grace couldnโt help but wonder, though she knew sheโd never get a straight answerโAurora had stopped explaining herself long ago. The truth was always right in front of her; she just chose not to see it.
Tessa still tried to defend herself, โHow can you think that way about me, sis? Are you really going to make me sound that awful? We werenโt like this when we were little. You used to rely on me all the time. Have you really forgotten all those happy memories?โ
Aurora let out a soft, humorless laugh. Forgotten? Or had those โmemoriesโ never existed at all? Tessaโs ability to twist reality was almost impressive.
She didnโt bother humoring her. โDo you even believe what youโre saying? When did I ever rely on you? When did you ever play with me, Tessa? Or are you just making up fairy tales now?โ
