Chapter 1481

Aurora came back so suddenly, without a word of notice, and with such an aggressive attitude. Tessa couldnโ€™t shake off the feeling that Aurora must have gotten hold of some kind of evidenceโ€”an uneasy tension gnawed at her.

Tessa gave a mocking laugh and spoke first. โ€œYou must be back because you missed Mom, right? Itโ€™s been quite a while since you last saw her.โ€

โ€œDidnโ€™t we just have a family dinner last week?โ€

Tessa froze.

This damn Auroraโ€“she was clearly doing it on purpose. Why did every word she said seem aimed at tearing her down? It was as if they were born enemies.

In truth, that was exactly how Aurora felt. Since she disliked the person, she saw no reason to hide it. She had never been the kind to flatter or please anyone. Since Tessa was openly targeting her, why should she be polite? They were better off as enemies in plain sight.

Aurora spoke bluntly. โ€œI came here today mainly because of whatโ€™s happening online.โ€

Before Aurora could finish, Grace quickly cut in. โ€œIโ€™ve heard about it too. Donโ€™t think about asking the Waltons for help. This kind of problem is something you should face on your own. Youโ€™re a grown woman now. Surely you donโ€™t need to run back to your mother every time something happens?โ€

Aurora was speechless. What on earth made Grace think she came to ask for help? Wasnโ€™t that absurd? She had Lucas nowโ€“if she really needed help, wouldnโ€™t going to him be much faster? That was exactly what she thought, and she said it just as directly.

Grace looked a little embarrassed, realizing that what Aurora said wasnโ€™t wrong. โ€œThen why did you come here?โ€

โ€œSince I said itโ€™s about whatโ€™s happening online, of course Iโ€™m here to talk properly about it.โ€ Auroraโ€™s words were directed at Grace, but her gaze shifted toward Tessa. โ€œI want an explanation from you both, especially from you, Tessa.โ€

Tessa flinched instinctively, a bad feeling rising in her chest.

Grace looked at her daughter in confusion, then turned back to Aurora. โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€

โ€œIf you really want to know, you can ask your precious eldest daughter.โ€ Auroraโ€™s lips curved into a faint, mocking smile as she looked at Tessa. She had made herself perfectly clear. How could Grace still not understand what she meant? Did she really need to spell it out word by word and feed it to her?

Finally, realization dawned on Graceโ€™s face. She turned sharply toward Tessa. โ€œDidnโ€™t you say you knew nothing about whatโ€™s online?โ€

โ€œI really donโ€™t know, Mom.โ€ Tessa clenched her hands tightly, trying to keep her emotions from slipping through. She knew this was a critical moment. She couldnโ€™t let Grace see through her act. Even now, with no way out, she had to keep pushing forward and not reveal a single flaw. Even if Aurora had already seen through her, so what? She still had Aaron to back her up. After all, she hadnโ€™t done it herself; she had only said a few words to push Aaron into action.
