Chapter 1497

Sheโ€™d already set several alarms and even asked her parents to check on her. If she somehow didnโ€™t wake up, theyโ€™d make sure she did. So, there was no need to worry; Megan had everything planned down to the last detail.

Aurora smiled approvingly and patted her on the shoulder. โ€œGood. Letโ€™s head to Bustin City and give it our best.โ€

โ€œI canโ€™t wait,โ€ Megan replied eagerly.

As they spoke, Lucas walked up carrying their suitcases. โ€œMake sure you stay safe out there. Call me if anything happens.โ€

Aurora waved her hand dismissively. โ€œRelax, Iโ€™ll call, I promise.โ€

Megan teased from the side, โ€œWow, I didnโ€™t think my cousin could be this clingy.โ€

The moment the words left her mouth, she met Lucasโ€™ cold, warning stare.

Megan froze.

She immediately ducked behind Aurora, her body reacting faster than her brain. Clearly, teasing him was never a good idea. Cousin or not, Lucasโ€™ authority wasnโ€™t something to mess with; even Auroraโ€™s presence couldnโ€™t save her from that look.

Seeing the two of them like this, Aurora sighed helplessly. โ€œAlright, thatโ€™s enough, both of you.โ€

Lucas straightened, completely serious. โ€œI didnโ€™t say a thing. You saw it yourself; she was the one who started it.โ€

Just as Megan opened her mouth to protest, Aurora turned to her. โ€œMegan, rein it in a little. Otherwise, next time your cousin decides to deal with you, I wonโ€™t be able to help.โ€

Megan pouted, looking more wronged than ever. โ€œAlright, alright, Aurora, youโ€™re totally siding with my cousin now.โ€

Aurora feigned innocence. โ€œAm I? Iโ€™m just being fair, thatโ€™s all.โ€

Lucas couldnโ€™t help but laugh at her response, while poor Megan was left standing there as the only wounded soul in sight.

Then Lucasโ€™s teasing expression faded, replaced by a calm seriousness. โ€œIf anything comes up, tell me right away. And if youโ€™re unsure about something, call me first.โ€

He turned to Aurora. โ€œBe careful out there. Iโ€™ll be waiting for you.โ€

Megan waved a hand dismissively. โ€œLucas, when did you get so naggy? Youโ€™re nothing like before.โ€

โ€œYou wouldnโ€™t understand. Youโ€™re still single.โ€

Megan was speechless.

Twice in one morning, effortlessly defeated. Truly, he never missed. She turned away with a huff, deciding silence was safer.

Aurora stepped in. โ€œI got it, I got it. You donโ€™t need to repeat yourself. Donโ€™t worry, Iโ€™ll remember everything you said. But seriously, Iโ€™m going to miss the flight if I donโ€™t go now.โ€

Only then did Lucas reluctantly let go of her hand. โ€œAlright. Go on, then.โ€

Once his figure disappeared from view, Aurora and Megan headed toward the boarding gate together.

Back at the gate, Megan glanced at her. โ€œYou sure you can bear to leave him?โ€

Aurora gave her a sharp look. โ€œAre you turning into him now? Even if I donโ€™t want to, what can I do? This is work. Thereโ€™s a line between work and life.โ€

โ€œExactly. Thatโ€™s the spirit.โ€ Megan nodded seriously, full of admiration.
