“That sounds perfect. I’m free this afternoon. Are you, Miss Walton?” Leonard replied quickly.

Aurora checked her schedule.

She really didn’t have anything important planned, so she agreed.

It would be a good chance to talk business with him too.

Walton Corporation had a project that needed design revisions, and she could take this opportunity to hear Leonard’s thoughts.

When Aurora arrived at the meeting spot, she realized Leonard hadn’t come alone–he brought along a little girl with twin ponytails.

The girl looked about five or six, like a real-life Barbie doll, with eyes like sparkling purple grapes–blinking and full of charm, adorable enough to melt anyone’s heart.

“Mr. Knight, this is your sister, right?” She greeted him and asked.

Leonard gazed at his sister with a gentle smile, shadowed by a familiar ache in his eyes.

This time, Aurora was sure she hadn’t imagined it.

Leonard looked at Aurora and said gently, “Miss Walton, we’re about the same age. Just call me Leonard. It’ll be easier since we’ll be working together quite often.”

Aurora gave it some thought. That made sense. “Alright, then you can call me Aurora.”

Leonard smiled slightly. “Alright, Aurora. This is my sister. But as you probably noticed…she has autism.”

When he said those last three words, a hint of red crept into the corners of his eyes, but he quickly composed himself.

Hearing that, Aurora looked at the girl with a pained heart. The blank expression on her face tugged at something inside her.

“She’s still so young. How could this…”

The nanny must have abused Nora when she was a child. That flash of coldness in Leonard’s eyes hadn’t escaped her. Aurora pressed her lips together and stepped forward, squatting down in front of Nora.

She lifted her hand to touch the girl’s head, but Nora flinched and took a step back, hiding behind Leonard.

Leonard quickly explained, “Aurora, don’t take it personally. My sister is…”

“It’s alright.” Aurora gave a gentle smile. “It’s okay. I understand it’s actually a good thing she’s cautious around strangers.” Her words carried more meaning, and Leonard caught it.

Aurora spoke softly, “Nora, the pudding here is really yummy. You should give it a try. It’s alright. There’s even a play area here. I’ll go with you later, okay?”
