Edwin said calmly, “Lucas has already seen your online interview.”

Yvonne’s heart skipped a beat, though she tried to sound composed. “So, what if he has?”

Her defiant tone was just a cover for her unease.

Deep down, she was gambling on which of them, she or Aurora, held more weight in Lucas’ heart.

After all, she had been by his side for so many years.

As far as she was concerned, Aurora was just a newcomer, someone who had shown up halfway through the story. There was no way she could matter more than her.

That thought made Yvonne feel even more confident.

She was certain Lucas wouldn’t turn against her over someone like Aurora.

But then, the more she thought about it, the more she realized—Lucas had called Edwin instead of her.

Didn’t that already confirm her suspicions in a way?

“You’re really not afraid of him getting angry?” Edwin asked, genuinely curious about what was going on in her head.

Everyone knew Lucas was the most capable among their generation.

And when he was angry, it was enough to make anyone tremble. In the business world, people even called him the Grim Reaper.

Even when they were younger, people used to say Lucas was steadier and sharper than him.

They were close in age, but Lucas’ mind was sharper, his decisions more ruthless, and his methods far more decisive.

Yvonne didn’t believe for a second that Lucas would get angry over this. “Relax, he won’t be mad. Besides, there’s no reason for him to be.”

Strangely, she sounded completely confident.

Edwin raised a brow but didn’t comment further.

Sometimes, Yvonne’s confidence really baffled him.

Thinking about it, he couldn’t figure out where it even came from. Was she born with it, or just delusional?

“You should really think about your next move. I don’t think Lucas is as easygoing as you imagine.

“And you know his temper. It’s never been good. He’s only been calmer lately because of Aurora. Have you forgotten what he used to be like?”

Hearing that, even Yvonne began to waver a little.

She knew how decisive Lucas could be—cold and efficient when handling problems.

If something displeased him, he would eliminate it immediately, cutting the issue off before it could grow.

He would never allow anything or anyone around him to threaten his control.

The more she thought about it, the more she felt a faint chill of fear.

She could still remember the meeting where someone had once dared to challenge him. Lucas had smiled, but that smile never reached his eyes.
