Wendy had no intention of staying in a hotel for the rest of her visit.

“Lukey, I don’t want to stay alone tonight. I’m scared,” she said, her voice soft and sweet. “Let me stay with you, just for tonight.

“I mean, your wife won’t mind, right? I even called you my bro.”

Lucas had no other choice.

She sounded so sure of herself, and he had no concrete reason to say no.

So, he drove her back to his place. It would only be temporary. He’d make proper arrangements later.

When Aurora returned, she happened to walk in on the two of them talking in the living room.

“Lukey, your place is so nicely decorated. Can I just stay here forever?” a cheerful female voice rang out.

Lucas rubbed his forehead. “You’re not a kid anymore. You can’t say things like that.”

“Just say yes or no,” the girl pouted. “Come on, with everything between us, what’s wrong with me sticking around a little?”

Lucas sighed, helpless. “Fine. Whatever.”

Only then did Wendy smile in satisfaction. “I knew you were the best!”

At the sound of her voice, Aurora instinctively took a step back.

She looked into the living room and saw a young, adorable woman clinging to Lucas’ arm, her voice soft and playful as she teased him.

The man she knew, her husband, stood there without pushing the girl away.

He only wore a tired, indulgent smile.

And the girl… wasn’t she the same one Aurora had seen at the airport?

In that moment, something inside her cracked.

She suddenly felt like she was the outsider in her own home.

Logic screamed at her to storm in, slap the girl across the face, and throw their marriage certificate in front of her.
