“And how exactly are you planning to fix it?” the executive snapped, suddenly rising to his feet.

“Let me be blunt—we don’t have that kind of cash lying around for you to throw at this problem. You know that better than anyone."

“And let’s not forget, John was your client. Now he’s turned on us. Shouldn’t you be asking yourself where you went wrong?”

Aurora’s gaze turned cold. “Then tell me, how should I reflect on it?”

This mess wasn’t what she wanted.

Yet now they were acting like she was the one who raised the price, like she was the reason for all this.

“Naturally, you should pull the deal back on track and renegotiate the price down to where it was before.”

Grace echoed the executive’s demand, her eyes sending an unspoken message to Aurora to soften her tone and not to act too stubborn.

Aurora saw right through them.

One played bad cop, the other the peacemaker.

It was obvious. This whole setup was just a calculated effort to pin the blame on her.

“I already said when I walked in—I’ll handle the situation with LC Corporation. You don’t need to meddle.”

The executive bristled at that.

He thumped his cane hard against the floor, his face flushed with anger.

“Don’t need us to meddle? Don’t forget, everything you have now came from Walton Corporation. You are still part of this company. You’re still the general manager!”

His voice rose. “You may be sitting in that position now, but when you step outside, you represent us.”

Aurora understood exactly what he meant. She’d never tried to distance herself from the company.

“I’ve made myself clear. I will handle this matter and resolve it. The rest of you don’t need to worry.”

With that, she saw no point in saying more.

More often than not, words were worthless; action spoke louder.

Seeing Aurora stand her ground so firmly, the executive ended up saying nothing else.

“Alright then. Since you seem to have everything under control, us old folks saying all this is probably pointless anyway,” the executive muttered.

Aurora gave a small shake of her head. “Madam Grace, Mr. Warden, I understand your concerns. Rest assured, I would never compromise the company’s interests.

“Walton Corporation raised me, in a way. Why would I ever drag it into harm’s way?”

The executive patted her shoulder. “Good. That’s all I needed to hear.”

He sighed to himself. “You young people just tend to be a bit too quick-tempered. But I’ll admit, you’ve got real ability.” Aurora didn’t respond much to that. She had no interest in wasting time on these kinds of remarks.

She turned to Grace. “Madam Grace, is there anything else?”

Grace shook her head, signaling that she was free to leave.

To be honest, she wasn’t sure what that executive’s purpose had been in the first place.

From the moment they arrived, he had done all the talking.

This time, Aurora decided to go on the offensive.

“So, who told you about the issue with the project?”

The executive paused, frowning as he tried to recall, but after a few seconds, it was clear he genuinely couldn’t remember.

In the end, he simply let it go. “Forget it. Go focus on your work. I trust you’ll handle it.”

Only then did Aurora turn to leave, with no intention of lingering a moment longer.

Even before stepping into the room, she had already been questioning why they were still continuing this major partnership at all.
