Chapter 336

Desmond was still shocked. He paced back and forth in the office, looking completely dumbfounded. โ€œMr. Carter, your foresight is incredible.โ€ Lucas chuckled. โ€œYou think everyoneโ€™s as slow as you?โ€ Desmondโ€™s smile froze for a second but quickly recovered. No big deal, this was the CEO he respected the most. A little scolding meant nothing, as long as Lucas was happy. โ€œBut seriously, how did you know Miss Walton would reach out to Randy?โ€ โ€œSimple. Everyone has a counterpart. You just start by studying their past.โ€ Hearing that, Desmond stared at Lucas with even more admiration in his eyes. โ€œAnyone lucky enough to follow you must have done something right in their past life.โ€ Lucas caught the starry-eyed expression and instantly felt a wave of discomfort. He visibly shuddered. โ€œGet back to work.โ€ Then he reminded, โ€œDonโ€™t let Aurora find out it was me who had you contact Randy. Make it seem like Randy reached out on his own. Keep it natural.โ€ Desmond nodded rapidly. โ€œUnderstood, sir.โ€

So, this was what people called couple dynamics. They were clearly doing things for each other without letting the other know. The thought made Desmond chuckle inwardly. Was this really the charm of a married couple? He shook his head. Forget it, he wouldnโ€™t understand, and it wasnโ€™t something a single guy like him should be overthinking. He better just remind Randy not to let anything slip. Lucas sat there staring at the documents in front of him without flipping a single page. He knew his Rora was the most resilient and independent of all.

Approaching Randy had been an obvious moveโ€“if Lucas could think of it, then Aurora would certainly think of it too. That was exactly why heโ€™d instructed Desmond to reach out to him in advance. It was also because he understood Aurora so wellโ€“her personality and instincts. That was why he let her take the reins on this. His role was simple: pave a smooth road for her behind the scenes. Lucas smiled faintly as he looked at a note on his phone. Under his breath, he muttered, โ€œUngrateful little thing.โ€

At Walton Corporation, Jan rushed into her office, visibly excited. โ€œMiss Walton, weโ€™ve made contact.โ€ โ€œRandy?โ€ Aurora stood up at once. She hadnโ€™t expected things to progress so quickly and smoothly. โ€œYes, and he seemed very open. He said heโ€™d be happy to talk.โ€ Excitement crept into her expression too, though a faint sense of unease began to stir in her gut. โ€œDid he say anything else?โ€ Seeing how serious she looked, Jan paused to think carefully, then shook his head earnestly. โ€œNo, Miss Walton. Just that heโ€™s open to meeting. Nothing more.โ€ โ€œIs something wrong?โ€ Aurora thought it over. If she wanted to break the stalemate, she had to walk straight into the game. โ€œNothing. What time did you set for the meeting with Randy?โ€ Jan reported the time. โ€œTomorrow afternoon.โ€ โ€œGood. Draft the contract first and come with me tomorrow.โ€ โ€œUnderstood!โ€ Jan immediately got ready, eager for the task.

Even though Aurora felt things were going a little too smoothly, that wasnโ€™t necessarily a bad thing. If it was smooth, it meant the plan was viable. It also meant that she was on the right path.
