Chapter 342
But she didnโt know how to explain all of this to anyone, not even to her mother.
Looking at the dishes on the table, Aurora was overwhelmed with sorrow. Her eyes reddened.
She had worked so hardโwasnโt it all for Walton Corporation?
And yet, her mother and those executives had never truly understood her.
The thought struck her as absurd. She found herself laughing bitterly.
She held Lucasโ hand and shared so many things she had kept to herself.
Watching her, Lucas couldnโt help but feel moved. How long had it been since they sat like this together?
Too long, wasnโt it?
Ever since Wendy came into the picture, they had to tread carefully even in their own home.
Lucas knew this couldnโt go on, but Kenneth had refused to answer any calls.
That wasnโt a solution either.
He sat up straight, looked at her seriously, and promised, โRora, donโt worry. Iโll make sure Wendy moves out in a few days.
โIt was careless of me. This was my fault.โ
Seeing Lucas so sincere and willing to admit his mistake, warmth bloomed in Auroraโs chest.
Watching him apologize again and again, she couldnโt quite put her feelings into words, but she knew one thing for sure: she wasnโt mad at him anymore.
After everything they had been through, if she still couldnโt see that Wendy had been driving a wedge between them, then she had no business running Walton Corporation.
Now that the project had been resolved, Aurora was in high spirits.
โAlright, this isnโt all on you. Donโt carry everything by yourself,โ she said, lifting a hand to gently tousle the soft hair on Lucasโs head.
Everyone knew Lucas never let anyone touch his head.
But this time, he said nothing. In fact, he even leaned in a little, as if inviting her touch.
Aurora found it incredibly satisfying, her hand resting on his head like she was petting a giant puppy.
How could he be this adorable?
โYou really donโt blame me anymore?โ Lucas asked seriously, his eyes blinking at her.
Aurora couldnโt help but laugh.
Still smiling, she answered just as seriously, โI already said I donโt blame you.โ
The next second, she leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to the corner of his lips.
โNow do you believe me?โ
Lucasโ eyes widened in shock. He hadnโt expected Aurora to be this forward today.
He was still stunned, not quite recovered from the surprise.
Aurora, on the other hand, flushed slightly after the kiss, but the very next moment, she straightened up and played it cool.
โEat. What are you staring at me for?โ
Lucasโ gaze darkened, and he reached out to pull her closer by the back of her head. โRora, youโre going to light a fire and then walk away?โ
โI wasnโtโmmph!โ
Before she could finish, Lucas silenced her with a kiss, his handsome face filling her vision.
He went from passive to assertive in a heartbeat, taking full control.
Their lips met again and again, breaths mingling, each kiss steeped in the otherโs presence.
Auroraโs hands, which had been resting against his chest, were soon pinned down as he held her so close it felt like two parched souls finally diving into the ocean.
In that moment, there was no one else in the world but them.
By the time Lucas finally let her go, Aurora felt like she could finally breathe again.
