Chapter 359

โ€œIf you really saw him, then post the photo. Letโ€™s see if the man in your so-called โ€˜sightingโ€™ actually matches the one in her post.โ€

That comment silenced the crowd.

It was a valid point. Why hadnโ€™t Aurora spoken up earlier? Why wait days before addressing the rumors?

But Aurora didnโ€™t see any of that. After posting her clarification, she had put her phone away.

Right now, her only focus was saving Walton Corporationโ€™s crashing stock. Unless the market rebounded, her mother wouldnโ€™t let her off the hook, and her position as general manager would remain on the line. If she didnโ€™t handle this properly, that seat would feel more like a guillotine.

So, Aurora poured herself into work, choosing to ignore the shifting tides of online opinion. Sheโ€™d already seen the first wave of reversal โ€“ anyone with common sense could figure the rest out on their own.

But Lucas hadnโ€™t looked away from the chaos for a second. He had been watching every update, every comment. And now that the backlash had begun to shift, his demeanor changed completely.

โ€œDesmond, track down the IDs of those leading the smear campaign,โ€ he said calmly, but with unmistakable authority.

Desmond pulled out his phone, scrolling through the data. Sure enough, a few users stood out, clearly pushing the narrative.

โ€œGot it. Donโ€™t worry, sir. Iโ€™ll get to the bottom of this.โ€

Lucas gave a slight nod. โ€œAlso, suppress the trending heat on this.โ€

โ€œUnderstood.โ€

Desmond left immediately to handle it. After so many years working by Lucasโ€™s side, he knew exactly what needed to be done โ€“ discreet, thorough, and fast.

Not only did he need to trace the people behind the posts, but he also had orders to shut them down entirely. This might be the digital age, but that didnโ€™t mean people could throw around false accusations without consequence. Everyone had to be responsible for their words โ€“ no one got to hide behind a keyboard and escape accountability.

A short while later, Desmond returned, efficient as ever.

โ€œSir, Iโ€™ve found them.โ€

In less than twenty minutes, Desmond had the full report. Heโ€™d uncovered exactly who was stirring the pot behind the scenes.

Lucas turned to him, his gaze sharp and expectant.

Desmond pushed the laptop toward him. โ€œSir, take a look. All of these accounts were directed by Tessa Walton.โ€

โ€œHer sister?โ€ Lucasโ€™s tone cooled instantly.

Desmond nodded with solemn certainty. At first, even he hadnโ€™t believed it. After all, they were sisters. And yet, Tessa had been behind a smear campaign involving her own sibling and her siblingโ€™s fiancรฉ.

It was unthinkable; Desmond himself had been stunned when the results came in.

โ€œI understand,โ€ Lucas said calmly. โ€œSuppress the trending tags first.โ€

With that, he gave no further instructions. He couldnโ€™t tell Aurora the truth yet. Not while she was still preoccupied with the general manager position, something that had already been weighing heavily on her. The last thing she needed was more emotional chaos on top of it.
