Chapter 403
After leaving the Hunt estate, Judy hesitated for just a moment before hailing a cab and telling the driver to take her to the best hotel in town. Standing in front of the grand entrance, she didnโt think twice as she walked up to the front desk and booked the presidential suite for ten days straight.
It wasnโt her money anyway. Joseph was footing the bill, and she didnโt feel the slightest bit guilty. By the time she was done enjoying her stay, heโd probably come crawling. She knew exactly how much time to give him.
โAurora Walton, donโt think Iโll let either of you off the hook,โ she muttered, her gaze turning sharp and venomous. If Joseph didnโt have the guts to make a move, that didnโt mean sheโd sit back and let things slide.
She had her own ways โ plenty of them, and money. Joseph was practically on her side anyway. Honestly, she couldnโt understand what Aurora was thinking. Sure, Joseph had been sweet to her at first, but now it was obvious that it was nothing but a passing thrill.
โTypical. Men are always slaves to novelty,โ she scoffed. It was laughable. But when it came to Joseph now, she had him wrapped around her finger. She used to think he was untouchable, sitting high and mighty. It turned out, he was just another clueless rich boy. All it took was a little praise and affection, and heโd light up like a Christmas tree.
Judy entered the suite and slipped into a luxurious bath, letting the hot water melt away every ounce of stress. Her phone kept ringing, vibrating constantly, but she didnโt even glance at it. She didnโt silence it or answer it. She knew men like him well. The colder she was, the more desperate he got. If she were to coddle him too much, heโd forget his place.
Meanwhile, Joseph stared at his phone, still stuck on the call screen. The fury in his eyes was barely contained. What the hell was Judy doing? Why wasnโt she picking up? Joseph was just about to grumble, but then a thought hit himโJudy wasnโt the type to play games. What if something had happened to her? The moment that crossed his mind, his chest tightened. He shot to his feet, ready to rush out and look for her.
โWhere do you think youโre going?โ
His fatherโs voice rang out from the second floor, halting him in his tracks. Joseph froze. Just his luck โ right as he was about to leave, his father appeared. Had he been watching him this whole time?
Melvin stared down at him, already knowing what was running through his sonโs head. โHmph, donโt think I donโt know what youโre up to.โ He scoffed coldly. โI had surveillance installed in the living room and your bedroom. From now on, every move you make is under my watch.โ
โFather, this is outrageous!โ Josephโs eyes widened in shock. He had suspected the living room, but his own bedroom? That was downright twisted.
Melvin, unfazed by Josephโs outburst, dismissed it like the tantrum of a child. โIf I went that far, you can be sure I had good reason. You donโt need to concern yourself with it.โ He tapped the railing firmly with his cane, voice icy. โNow, answer me. You stood up just now โ where were you planning to go?โ
โIโฆ I wasnโt going anywhereโฆโ Joseph quickly lied. He knew this wasnโt the time to bring up Judy. If his father found out he was rekindling things with her, itโd only stir more trouble. No need to make himself into a tragic lover under his fatherโs thumb.
With that thought, Josephโs gaze turned resolute.
