Chapter 431
โGot it, Mom. Iโll head back now. If anything comes up, just give me a call.โ
Grace flashed her a quick โOKโ gesture, then quietly watched the two of them leave.
Only after theyโd completely disappeared from sight did she turn back to stare blankly at the breed in front of her.
She hadnโt missed the awkwardness on Auroraโs face earlierโtruth be told, she just didnโt want to confront it.
But she genuinely didnโt want her two daughters turning against each other. And at this point, she didnโt even know how to fix it.
The thought alone gave her a headache.
Both daughters were really reflections of herself.
They were stubborn and proud.
Neither of them was willing to back down.
Otherwise, this whole situation couldโve been resolved so easily.
All it would take was for one of them to lower her head and admit fault, and the rest would fall into place.
Grace sighed heavily.
When her assistant walked in, he caught the sound of that sigh and immediately picked up on her mood.
As her executive aide, of course he wanted to help ease her burdens.
โMadam Grace, whatโs wrong? Why the heavy sigh?โ
Seeing it was Jason, Grace actually spoke a little more than usual.
โMy two daughters are too proud for their own good. This kind of temperament, ughโฆโ
Jason could tell right away what she meant.
But at the end of the day, this was a family matter.
No matter how much he might want to step in, he had no standing to do so.
When Grace noticed his silence, she started to feel a bit deflated.
She had said so much, but he didnโt even respondโnot a word of comfort or suggestion.
That thought alone left her feeling utterly drained.
Why was she always surrounded by people who didnโt know how to talk?
Next time she had the chance, Grace was determined to do a full reset of the people around her.
โAlright, stop standing there. If thereโs nothing else, go find the doctor and get my medication.โ
Grace didnโt want to stay in the hospital any longer. It was a waste of time, and the treatment wasnโt doing her much good.
All they ever told her was to rest and take it easy.
Nothing beyond that. No real care, nothing truly helpful.
Besides, all those so-called supplements were all things she had at home anyway.
And she had enough of the constant smell of disinfectant.
Jason, however, was worried about her health.
Sheโd only just regained consciousnessโwhat if something happened after discharge?
Then what? What would happen to his job? Could he even keep it?
That thought only made him more anxious.
โMadam Grace, why not stay a few more days? This really feels too risky.โ
He tried again to reason with her. โYou only just woke up, donโt you think this is a bit too soon?โ
โI said Iโm fine.โ
Grace furrowed her brow. โItโs my own body. I know it better than anyone. Just do as I say.โ
โButโฆโ
Jason tried once more, but Grace cut him off sharply.
โEnough, Jason. I said I know what Iโm doing.โ
โYou donโt need to say anything else. Just handle the discharge for me.โ
She turned her head away, not even bothering to look at him anymore.
What, was she no longer even able to give orders to her own employees? She knew Jason meant well, but that didnโt make her feel any better.
Sheโd been cooped up here long enough, and she still had no idea what was going on outside.
