Chapter 442
Lucas stared at Wendy, his patience wearing even thinner.
But Wendy acted as if she hadnโt noticed at all. She didnโt answer his question and just kept talking on her own.
โLukey, what I want is really simple. How could you forget that?โ
โWhat do you want?โ
As her hand slid across his body, Lucas felt a wave of disgust ripple through him. Goosebumps prickled his skin. He immediately flung her hand off and frowned so tightly it looked like he could crush a mosquito between his brows.
โHave some self-respect.โ
Wendyโs smile froze, but for now, it was still bearable. At the very least, Lucas was still willing to talk to her instead of walking away and locking himself in his room.
โLukey, why are you being so distant? I just wanted to have a meal with you.โ
Lucas gave her a surprised look, his gaze tinged with disbelief.
โJust a meal?โ
โOf course,โ Wendyโs eyes lit up. โUnless, you want to do something more with me? Because Iโd be happy to.โ
Lucas felt a chill crawl down his spine. Was this really the same Wendy he used to know? How long had it been? Why did she seem like a completely different person now? Gone was the cute, innocent girl from his childhoodโwhat stood in front of him now was someone materialistic and calculating. He couldnโt help but recall the way sheโd looked at him earlier, with lust and possessiveness written all over her face. Had she been harboring inappropriate thoughts about him all along?
Lucas took a deep breath. โIf you canโt speak properly, then get out of my house.โ
โSure,โ Wendy replied with a smile. โBut I think your wife would love to know the truth about who you really are. After all, being kept in the dark? Doesnโt feel too great, does it? These past few days, Iโve been watching your wifeโs temper. She doesnโt seem like the easygoing type. Sheโs pretty headstrong, isnโt she?โ
Lucas clenched his fists, the air around him turning ice-cold with fury. Kennethโs little sister was a real piece of work. She was unbelievably bold.
Wendy flinched at the look in Lucasโ eyes, but she still stood her ground, her chin raised defiantly like she had nothing to lose.
So what? Life was short. If she didnโt go after the man she liked, then what was the point of it all? She was determined to enjoy life while she could. She stepped closer to Lucas, digging her nails into her thigh to stop herself from trembling, silently cursing, โStupid leg, quit shaking!โ But even so, her voice came out shaky as she spoke.
โLukey, I promise that after this meal, I wonโt say a single word to your wife about anything concerning you. Weโve known each other since we were kids. You can trust me on that, canโt you?โ
Lucas glanced down at her without a word, then turned and walked off.
Wendy beamed with satisfaction. She knew itโthat was his silent agreement. When the door to the master bedroom shut behind him, Wendy hummed a tune and returned to her own room.
Anyone with eyes could see she was over the moon. Tomorrow, sheโd be going on a date with her Lukey. She was already planning to book a stylist to help her get ready. She had to make a good impression.
Clutching her phone, Wendy looked every bit the love-struck girl, full of dreamy anticipation for tomorrowโs date.
