Chapter 47

Aurora’s expression turned icy the moment she heard his words. She met Joseph’s gaze head-on, her eyes sharp as blades. “Joseph, watch your mouth. My life has nothing to do with you. How I live is none of your damn business.”

Joseph was momentarily stunned by her retort, but he quickly recovered, putting on his usual condescending act. “Capability? Aurora, what capability do you have? You’re nothing now! Without me, you’re just a worthless nobody!”

His words were sharp, but they didn’t faze her. She had long seen through Joseph’s hypocrisy and arrogance. Once, she had thought he was her salvation, her guiding light. But in the end, he had only ever seen her as something to manipulate and control at will.

“Joseph,” Aurora’s voice was calm as she spoke. “Three years ago, I was blind to ever like you. But now, I see clearly. You mean nothing to me. And I, Aurora Walton, am not someone you can insult however you please.”

Something in her resolute gaze seemed to sting Joseph. His expression darkened. He stepped forward, reaching for her arm, but she swiftly dodged him.

“Don’t touch me,” she said coldly.

“Aurora, quit acting all high and mighty!” Joseph suddenly lunged closer, his face just inches from hers. His gaze swept over her before flicking to the car behind her, a sneer forming on his lips. “This car isn’t cheap.”

“Found yourself a new sugar daddy? Or did you use your dirty little tricks to hook another rich man?”

Aurora’s brows knitted slightly in disgust. A wave of revulsion rose in her chest. She took a step back, putting distance between them, and looked at him with nothing but cold contempt. “Joseph, is your mind so filthy that you see filth in everything?”

“I earned this car with my own money. Don’t use your disgusting assumptions to judge others!”

But Joseph acted as if he hadn’t heard a word she said, continuing to press her. “Earned it yourself? Aurora, don’t make me laugh! You’re just a broke college student–how much money could you possibly make?”

“I saw you at the hotel last time, clinging to some man. You must’ve found yourself a sugar daddy, huh?”

Aurora had been holding back, but at that moment, she finally snapped. She clenched her fists, resisting the urge to punch him. “Joseph, say another word, and don’t blame me for not holding back!”

Joseph flinched for a brief second, instinctively stepping back. But he quickly recovered, his arrogance returning.

“What? Did I hit a nerve? Aurora, don’t think I don’t know what kind of woman you are! You’d do anything for money!”

Aurora took a deep breath, forcing herself to stay calm. She knew reasoning with someone like Joseph was pointless. It would only be a waste of breath. Instead, she let out a cold laugh, her voice dripping with mockery. “Wow, Joseph, you care so much about me. Still hung up on me after all this time? Did your true love fail to satisfy you? Thinking of crawling back to me now?”

“What a shame. To me, you’re not even worth a damn thing.”

Joseph’s face twisted with barely restrained rage. His eyes darkened as he grabbed her wrist tightly, his grip bruising. “You love seducing men, don’t you?” he spat. “I never even touched you when we were together, yet I spent so much money on you. Don’t you think I deserve a little interest?”

Before she could react, Joseph shoved her against the car, his hands yanking at her clothes.
