Chapter 477
This also made it easier for the medical team to proceed with treatment.
When Ian returned to the room with the medication, Aurora happened to open her eyes.
โMiss Walton, how are you feeling?โ
Aurora gave a faint shake of her head.
She tried to push herself up using her arm, but Ian quickly stopped her. โMiss Walton, youโre still on an IV drip. You should stay lying down.โ
Following his gaze, Aurora noticed the IV bag hanging beside her.
With no choice, she eased back onto the bed.
She cleared her throat and was surprised by how dry and raspy her voice sounded. โDid you bring me to the hospital?โ
Ian nodded. โYes, Miss Walton. The doctor said itโs acute gastroenteritis. It has to do with your eating habits. The meal I got you earlierโฆ you didnโt eat it, did you?โ
Auroraโs face rarely showed such embarrassment. โI got caught up with work and forgot.โ
Hearing that, Ian nearly exploded. โForgot? Miss Walton, you canโt be careless with your health!
โThis is your own body. Youโre going to live in it for the rest of your life. You have to take care of it!โ
As he spoke, his eyes shimmered with tears, like he might break down right then if she didnโt take it seriously.
Seeing that, Aurora gave a small smile to comfort him. โAlright, itโll pass. Iโm fine now.โ
โAnd look, Iโm still here, arenโt I?โ
Ian opened his mouth to say more but stopped when Aurora coughed twice. He immediately handed her the cup from the bedside table.
โCareful, itโs hot!โ
Aurora shot him an approving look.
She hadnโt expected this assistant, usually so low-key, to be so reliable in a crisis.
After a sip, she waved her hand to signal that was enough.
Looking at him, she said, โI really troubled you today. Itโs late, and I made you come all the way out.โ
As soon as she said that, Ianโs face changed.
He shot Aurora a disapproving look. โMs. Walton, how can you say something like that? What do you mean?โ
Aurora blinked in confusion at his sudden raised voice. She had no idea what had just set him off!
Then he said firmly, โMs. Walton, weโre friends. Friends are not supposed to help each other?โ
That last sentence wavered with emotion, his voice catching ever so slightly.
Maybe people just got more sensitive when they were sick, but Aurora couldnโt bear hearing that kind of tone. She quickly shook her head. โOf course not. Iโve long seen you as a friend.โ
He threw his hands up. โWell then, there you go. Iโm helping a friend. Why would I find that troublesome?โ
Aurora smiled warmly.
To have friends like this in her lifeโshe couldnโt ask for more.
โAlright then. Itโs getting late, and Iโm fine now. Why donโt you head back and get some rest?โ
She glanced at the time. Nearly two hours had passed since sheโd blacked out.
Thinking of how Ian had been called in suddenly, she felt a twinge of guilt.
But he still looked reluctant. โMiss Walton, youโre still on the drip. Iโll stay until itโs done.โ
