Chapter 510

So, he really was here to see Aurora. Could he be their general managerโ€™s grandfather? Ian nodded. โ€œYes, our general manager is in this room.โ€ Arnold finally broke into a smile. โ€œGeneral manager?โ€ โ€œYou work for Walton Corporation?โ€ Ian was even more surprised. He didnโ€™t expect the old man to recognize the Walton name. Clearly, his identity wasnโ€™t simple.

โ€œYeahโ€ฆ how do you know about Walton Corp.?โ€ Ian stood a little straighter, his tone more respectful now. If this really was the general managerโ€™s grandfather, hadnโ€™t he been a little too casual earlier? He just hoped the old man wouldnโ€™t hold it against him. Ian was honestly a bit nervous. Arnold seemed to notice his concern and chuckled. โ€œDonโ€™t worry. Iโ€™m family, you could say. I came to check on Aurora.โ€ With that, he moved to step inside. โ€œStep aside. I want to see her.โ€ After all, heโ€™d watched her grow up like his own granddaughter. How could he not be worried? Ian hesitated and said awkwardly, โ€œSir, maybe itโ€™s better if you wait a moment?โ€ He remembered the intimate atmosphere inside. If someone barged in now, wouldnโ€™t that be an intrusion? Wouldnโ€™t that be a little inappropriate? โ€œWhy? Why should I wait?โ€ Arnold frowned. Aurora was right there, and yet he wasnโ€™t allowed in? Even Ian was standing outside. It puzzled him. What did these people mean by all this? Ian looked at Arnoldโ€™s firm expression and, in the end, didnโ€™t know how to respond. He was just the kind of person who listened to advice and got by โ€“ nothing special or ambitious.

Faced with someone as shrewd as Arnold, Ian really did feel a bit out of his depth. So, he steeled himself and simply spilled what had just happened inside.

โ€œActually, the general manager is in there with her husband. If we go in now, weโ€™d be interrupting the mood.โ€ Hearing that, Arnold was completely speechless. โ€œSeriously? And you call yourself a staff member here? If I werenโ€™t in a good mood, Iโ€™d show you what real discipline looks like.โ€ Just this little issue, and heโ€™d really let those two stay in the room alone? If anything happened in there, all the effort theyโ€™d made earlier would be for nothing. The thought made Arnoldโ€™s expression turn grim. โ€œStep aside. If something goes wrong, can you take responsibility for it?โ€ Ian didnโ€™t really understand, but he moved out of the way without protest. After all, Arnold was right. He really couldnโ€™t afford the consequences. Still, that man inside, wasnโ€™t it Lucas? Wasnโ€™t he Auroraโ€™s husband? Why would he do anything inappropriate? The more he thought about it, the less sense it made. Maybe Arnold had misunderstood something? But seeing the seriousness in Arnoldโ€™s expression, Ian didnโ€™t dare say a word. He obediently let him through. Since Arnold was technically family to the general manager, letting him in was like siding with her. As for the man inside, that was a separate matter. He reminded himself of his role โ€“ he was on Auroraโ€™s side. That couldnโ€™t change. His loyalty lay firmly with her, and he wouldnโ€™t allow anyone to hurt or defy her. With that thought, everything suddenly made sense. He would let Arnold go in โ€“ he was one of theirs. Letting him in wasnโ€™t betrayal. It was the right thing to do.
