Chapter 541
Tessa leaned against Graceโs shoulder and shook her head, silently telling her it was fine.
But in her heart, she thought, of course it was fine. It wouldnโt matter even if Aurora never woke up for the rest of her life. In fact, that would be the best outcome for all of them. Why should she wake up and ruin everything and make everyone miserable again?
And just like that, Tessa officially took over as the acting general manager.
Grace urged her, โYou should head to the company soon and start familiarizing yourself with the workflow.โ
After all, Grace was still a little concerned. Most of this would be Tessaโs first time, and she wasnโt sure how well sheโd handle it. It was only because Tessaโs degree happened to match the companyโs needs that Grace even considered giving her a chance. If she hadnโt studied the right field, Grace would never have let her take it so easily.
Tessa nodded earnestly. โDonโt worry, Mom. I wonโt let you down. Iโll treat the companyโs interests as more important than my own life.โ
Grace shook her head. โSilly girl. I just want you to do your best. You donโt need to take it so seriously. Your life and health matter more than anything else. In my eyes, nothing is more important than the two of youโyour health and future. The company only exists to help build a better path for both of you.โ
Tessa simply smiled and replied sweetly, โThank you, Mom. I always knew you were the best.โ
But deep down, she didnโt take a single word to heart. She knew exactly what kind of person Grace really was. Everything she said now was just for showโher true thoughts were always buried beneath the surface.
And letโs be honest, everyone had seen how seriously Grace treated the company over the years. As if a few sentimental lines could suddenly make it seem unimportant.
โAlright then, Mom. Iโll head to the office now and get up to speed. You stay home and focus on your recovery.โ Tessa spoke considerately, looking every bit the dutiful daughter, focused entirely on the company and easing her motherโs burden.
โAlright. Youโve really worked hard these past few days.โ
Tessa shook her head. โNot at all. Iโm part of this family too, Mom. You donโt need to be so formal with me.โ
โGo on, then. If you have any questions, just give me a call.โ
Only then did Tessa set off.
Grace watched her daughterโs back as she left, falling into silence.
Arnold couldnโt help but ask, โMadam Grace, are you really comfortable leaving the company in Miss Tessaโs hands?โ
โOf course Iโm not,โ Grace said flatly. โBut thereโs no other option. Right now, sheโs the only one who can step in. If it were someone else, Iโd trust them even less.โ
Arnold thought it over and realized she was right. At this point, Tessa really was the most suitable candidate. After all, Walton Corporation belonged to their family. Nothing serious should go wrong. And if something truly did, well, that would just mean it was written in the companyโs fate.
Besides, Grace wasnโt in any shape to be at the office. And the senior executives were all circling like vultures, waiting for a chance to strike.
With that thought, Arnold let out a sigh. He had served the Walton family for many years and knew all too well how things worked in powerful families like this.
