Chapter 541

Tessa leaned against Graceโ€™s shoulder and shook her head, silently telling her it was fine.

But in her heart, she thought, of course it was fine. It wouldnโ€™t matter even if Aurora never woke up for the rest of her life. In fact, that would be the best outcome for all of them. Why should she wake up and ruin everything and make everyone miserable again?

And just like that, Tessa officially took over as the acting general manager.

Grace urged her, โ€œYou should head to the company soon and start familiarizing yourself with the workflow.โ€

After all, Grace was still a little concerned. Most of this would be Tessaโ€™s first time, and she wasnโ€™t sure how well sheโ€™d handle it. It was only because Tessaโ€™s degree happened to match the companyโ€™s needs that Grace even considered giving her a chance. If she hadnโ€™t studied the right field, Grace would never have let her take it so easily.

Tessa nodded earnestly. โ€œDonโ€™t worry, Mom. I wonโ€™t let you down. Iโ€™ll treat the companyโ€™s interests as more important than my own life.โ€

Grace shook her head. โ€œSilly girl. I just want you to do your best. You donโ€™t need to take it so seriously. Your life and health matter more than anything else. In my eyes, nothing is more important than the two of youโ€“your health and future. The company only exists to help build a better path for both of you.โ€

Tessa simply smiled and replied sweetly, โ€œThank you, Mom. I always knew you were the best.โ€

But deep down, she didnโ€™t take a single word to heart. She knew exactly what kind of person Grace really was. Everything she said now was just for showโ€“her true thoughts were always buried beneath the surface.

And letโ€™s be honest, everyone had seen how seriously Grace treated the company over the years. As if a few sentimental lines could suddenly make it seem unimportant.

โ€œAlright then, Mom. Iโ€™ll head to the office now and get up to speed. You stay home and focus on your recovery.โ€ Tessa spoke considerately, looking every bit the dutiful daughter, focused entirely on the company and easing her motherโ€™s burden.

โ€œAlright. Youโ€™ve really worked hard these past few days.โ€

Tessa shook her head. โ€œNot at all. Iโ€™m part of this family too, Mom. You donโ€™t need to be so formal with me.โ€

โ€œGo on, then. If you have any questions, just give me a call.โ€

Only then did Tessa set off.

Grace watched her daughterโ€™s back as she left, falling into silence.

Arnold couldnโ€™t help but ask, โ€œMadam Grace, are you really comfortable leaving the company in Miss Tessaโ€™s hands?โ€

โ€œOf course Iโ€™m not,โ€ Grace said flatly. โ€œBut thereโ€™s no other option. Right now, sheโ€™s the only one who can step in. If it were someone else, Iโ€™d trust them even less.โ€

Arnold thought it over and realized she was right. At this point, Tessa really was the most suitable candidate. After all, Walton Corporation belonged to their family. Nothing serious should go wrong. And if something truly did, well, that would just mean it was written in the companyโ€™s fate.

Besides, Grace wasnโ€™t in any shape to be at the office. And the senior executives were all circling like vultures, waiting for a chance to strike.

With that thought, Arnold let out a sigh. He had served the Walton family for many years and knew all too well how things worked in powerful families like this.
