Julian’s eyes lit up with excitement and joy, his tone full of praise. “Just wait, we’ll celebrate properly tonight.”

Tessa felt proud too. “Sure, you can pick the place. I won’t say more now.”

“What’s wrong, baby? Are you busy right now?” Julian’s voice was so tender it could melt.

As long as someone could help him get ahead, he had no problem putting on a pleasant front–this was Julian’s double nature. He was like a weather vane, swaying whichever way the wind blew. And Tessa certainly enjoyed being called “baby” again and again.

In the past, she was always overlooked. As long as Aurora was around, she was always left standing on the sidelines, especially at major events–her mother and the top leaders never even mentioned her name.

But now it was different. She had become the acting general manager of Walton Corporation. Wherever she went, people would know her name. Just the thought of it made her even more thrilled. She hoped Aurora would never wake up. That would mean even more opportunities for her. Opportunities had to be seized–if she didn’t fight for herself, no one would help her get them. Tessa knew this better than anyone, and that was why she’d been competing with Aurora her entire life. Even that time when she pushed Megan into the pool in Aurora’s presence, it was out of jealousy. Tessa said, “I’m on my way to Walton Corporation now, heading in to take over and get things settled. Just calling you on the road.”

“Alright then, baby, I’ll let you go handle it.” Julian called her “baby” over and over, his voice dripping with sweetness. Tessa felt warm inside hearing it.

But she still had her concerns. “You need to keep a close eye on Aurora. Don’t slack off, not even for a second. We’re at a critical moment. You can’t afford to mess this up.”

Julian picked up on how serious she sounded. He nodded right away, then remembered she couldn’t see him, so he added quickly, “Don’t worry, baby, I’ll handle it. Tonight, I’ll check in with that doctor and see what’s going on. But the celebration might have to wait a little.”

There was hesitation in Julian’s tone, just enough to make it awkward. Tessa, however, was calm. She knew exactly what mattered most. When it came to big decisions, she wouldn’t get upset over something so trivial.

“Don’t worry, I know how to prioritize.” She smiled. “There’s no reason to be angry over this. What matters is what we’re building together.”

Julian was relieved. “That’s great, Tessa. Thank you for understanding.”

“Alright, that’s enough. Just take care of what I told you and do it quickly.”
