Chapter 565
Lucas raised an eyebrow.
It was too much of a coincidence to run into the attending physician right after stepping out. If there was nothing shady going on, he certainly wouldnโt believe it.
Kenneth and Wendy exchanged glances. There were twists and turns in all of this. Without needing to say a word, they could figure it out. Everything pointed back to Tessa. That much, Kenneth could be certain of now.
Jackson looked at the doctors guarding the door, feeling somewhat embarrassed. โMiss Walton, you see, I really have no other choice. I came to check on the patient, and youโre stopping me from entering. What does this mean?โ
Tessa also felt awkward and apologized on Lucasโ behalf. โIโm so sorry. My brother-in-law is just really anxious. Heโs overly concerned about my sisterโs health, thatโs why heโs acting this way. Donโt worry, Iโll let you in now,โ she said, adopting a commanding tone as she looked at the two doctors. โWhat are you waiting for? Hurry up and let Dr. Watson in.โ
The doctors, standing at the door, were confused and didnโt know how to proceed. They scratched their heads and finally glanced inside the room. They were just following orders, not making decisions on their own. It was all about getting things done with money. Now that so many people had entered, they felt they were not doing their job properly.
โCome in,โ Lucasโ voice rang out.
Only then did Tessa feel a wave of relief. She had been worried about Lucas refusing. After all, she had already said so much. If she couldnโt let him in now, it would be so embarrassing. As soon as she had said it, she regretted it. But fortunately, Lucas gave her the courtesy.
Tessa smiled happily. โLucas, I knew youโd understand. This has always been my sisterโs primary doctor. He definitely understands more than these foreign doctors. Moreover, Dr. Watson has always taken care of my sister. If anything happens, he knows her health condition better than anyone.โ
Lucas snorted coldly, saying nothing. Who he trusted wasnโt something Tessaโs few words could easily change. Allowing Jackson to come in was because he wanted to see what Tessa was really up to. And was this illness of Auroraโs actually related to Tessa? If he found out it was, he would not let her off easily. Even if she was Auroraโs older sister, it wouldnโt matter. She would face the consequences, just like anyone else!
Tessa looked at Lucasโ half-smiling, half-serious gaze, and for some reason, she felt uneasy. Had she, perhaps, provoked someone she shouldnโt have? Why couldnโt she read her brother-in-law at all?
Tessa thought to herself, โItโs fine, itโs already done.โ And besides, no one had discovered anything all this time, right? With that, Tessa steeled her heart, convinced that what she had done wasnโt a problem. After all, how could a pretty boy like him compare to someone like Julian? It was just nonsense.
The foreign doctor hadnโt failed to understand what Tessa said. On the contrary, his English was quite good.
