Even though Grace was a bit more indulgent with Tessa, she wouldn’t let her get away with everything.

Soon, Grace’s tone grew firmer. “Since Lucas has done this, there must be a reason. You don’t need to worry so much.”

Tessa’s eyes widened in disbelief as she looked at Julian. She never expected Grace to say something like that. What did she mean by "don't worry"? Was she really concerned about Aurora, or was she just concerned in the wrong way?

“Mom, you have no idea what’s really going on!” Tessa’s voice rose without her even realizing it.

Grace, a little impatient now, tried to comfort her. “Alright, alright. If you think something is wrong, just tell me directly. What do you mean by ‘what’s really going on’? I don’t know the details. You tell me.”

Grace pressed her lips together tightly. If Tessa were in front of her, she would easily notice that Grace’s expression had changed. In fact, if she had listened carefully, she could hear the impatience in Grace’s voice as well. But right now, Tessa was too angry, and on top of that, she had just been hurt by Lucas. Add in the betrayal by the executive, and all these things piled up made her feel overwhelmed. Especially after everything she’d been through, she didn’t even know what to do anymore.

“Mom, I listened to the doctor. I even went to ask Aurora’s attending physician. He seriously told me that Aurora’s condition is not suitable for transfer right now. It would be bad for her health, and she may never wake up again.”

Julian watched Tessa speak in surprise, stunned by her performance. How could he not have noticed this before? This woman was quite the actress. Moreover, in just a few words, she had explained everything and managed to clear herself of any responsibility. It was as if she was completely acting in Aurora’s best interests. Everything else had nothing to do with her. Julian stood there, dumbfounded.

Tessa was doing this on purpose; she was deliberately making the situation sound so serious. She wanted Grace to take her side. She had planned this all along.

As expected, when Grace heard Tessa say “she may never wake up again,” her heart skipped a beat. How could her perfectly healthy daughter just never wake up? Wasn’t that the biggest joke? Especially since not long ago, they had been getting along just fine. How did things turn out this way?

Thinking of this, Grace felt a sharp pain in her heart. “Then where is Aurora now?” Even Grace didn’t realize that her voice trembled as she spoke. Sometimes, she didn’t even know how to express her feelings toward Aurora.

When it came to Tessa, she would obviously choose her. But when she thought about her relationship with these two daughters, her heart felt heavy. Especially during these past few days, she realized she had indeed neglected taking care of Aurora. As a mother, that was a failure on her part. Although she had sent Arnold to check on her, she was Aurora’s biological mother. How could she ask someone else to visit Aurora on her behalf?
