Chapter 595
The moment she heard him say he would think it through seriously, Judy felt her head throb.
โWhat do you mean by that?โ
Her voice shot up sharply, and her whole demeanor shifted into something almost menacing, completely different from the gentle tone sheโd been using. The change was so jarring, it genuinely rattled Joseph.
โJudy, whatโs wrong with you?โ
He wasnโt stupid. Her sudden change in attitude didnโt go unnoticed. It was painfully obvious that something wasnโt right. Seeing the confusion on his face, Judy quickly realized sheโd gone too far. Now she was starting to raise suspicion, and that wasnโt good. Sheโd never lost composure like that in front of him before. Realizing this, she quickly reined in her expression.
โAlright, alrightโฆ I get it. Iโm just worried about you, thatโs all. You know Iโm not usually like this.โ She smiled sweetly, as if everything just now had been a figment of his imagination. The switch left Joseph completely thrown.
โWellโฆ alright then.โ
He tried to shake off the unease and returned to their earlier topic. โBut Judy, why did you react so strongly to what I said about taking time to think things through?โ He honestly didnโt get it. Was she really doing all of this for his sake? She hadnโt acted like this before. No matter what he said, she always responded gently, never raising her voice and challenging him so directly. But now, she was different. She wasnโt as soft as she used to be. She even liked going against him now. For some reason, Judy had become more opinionated than ever.
Thinking about it made Joseph uneasy. He didnโt know what to say or how to say it.
โI donโt know. Why donโt you tell me what to do?โ
He gave up trying to figure it out. If she wasnโt happy with this and that, she might as well spell everything out for him. Besides, after what theyโd just done, he didnโt feel like thinking too hard. He was tired.
Judy mentally rolled her eyes at him. A man like this was barely useful, all bark and no bite. If he werenโt the heir to the Hunt family, she wouldnโt have spared him a second glance. But right now, she needed his help. That was the only reason she was still playing nice. Otherwise, none of this would be happening.
So, she forced herself to stay patient and said again, โSince youโve started taking over the company, then you need to show some results.โ
โMm, mm, I get that.โ He nodded eagerly, pretending to be all ears.
Judy sighed inwardly, breathing in and out to keep her temper in check. How could one man be this useless? Still, she adjusted her tone and continued, โRight now, Auroraโs sick. Isnโt this the perfect chance to strike and take down her company? For example, if sheโs got any upcoming projects or valuable land deals lined up, you can snatch them up.โ
Judy figured she couldnโt have made her intentions any clearer than that.
