Chapter 595

The moment she heard him say he would think it through seriously, Judy felt her head throb.

โ€œWhat do you mean by that?โ€

Her voice shot up sharply, and her whole demeanor shifted into something almost menacing, completely different from the gentle tone sheโ€™d been using. The change was so jarring, it genuinely rattled Joseph.

โ€œJudy, whatโ€™s wrong with you?โ€

He wasnโ€™t stupid. Her sudden change in attitude didnโ€™t go unnoticed. It was painfully obvious that something wasnโ€™t right. Seeing the confusion on his face, Judy quickly realized sheโ€™d gone too far. Now she was starting to raise suspicion, and that wasnโ€™t good. Sheโ€™d never lost composure like that in front of him before. Realizing this, she quickly reined in her expression.

โ€œAlright, alrightโ€ฆ I get it. Iโ€™m just worried about you, thatโ€™s all. You know Iโ€™m not usually like this.โ€ She smiled sweetly, as if everything just now had been a figment of his imagination. The switch left Joseph completely thrown.

โ€œWellโ€ฆ alright then.โ€

He tried to shake off the unease and returned to their earlier topic. โ€œBut Judy, why did you react so strongly to what I said about taking time to think things through?โ€ He honestly didnโ€™t get it. Was she really doing all of this for his sake? She hadnโ€™t acted like this before. No matter what he said, she always responded gently, never raising her voice and challenging him so directly. But now, she was different. She wasnโ€™t as soft as she used to be. She even liked going against him now. For some reason, Judy had become more opinionated than ever.

Thinking about it made Joseph uneasy. He didnโ€™t know what to say or how to say it.

โ€œI donโ€™t know. Why donโ€™t you tell me what to do?โ€

He gave up trying to figure it out. If she wasnโ€™t happy with this and that, she might as well spell everything out for him. Besides, after what theyโ€™d just done, he didnโ€™t feel like thinking too hard. He was tired.

Judy mentally rolled her eyes at him. A man like this was barely useful, all bark and no bite. If he werenโ€™t the heir to the Hunt family, she wouldnโ€™t have spared him a second glance. But right now, she needed his help. That was the only reason she was still playing nice. Otherwise, none of this would be happening.

So, she forced herself to stay patient and said again, โ€œSince youโ€™ve started taking over the company, then you need to show some results.โ€

โ€œMm, mm, I get that.โ€ He nodded eagerly, pretending to be all ears.

Judy sighed inwardly, breathing in and out to keep her temper in check. How could one man be this useless? Still, she adjusted her tone and continued, โ€œRight now, Auroraโ€™s sick. Isnโ€™t this the perfect chance to strike and take down her company? For example, if sheโ€™s got any upcoming projects or valuable land deals lined up, you can snatch them up.โ€

Judy figured she couldnโ€™t have made her intentions any clearer than that.
