So many people were crowding the first floor. It was better not to draw too much attention.
Meanwhile, the doctorsโ side was filled with raised voices, one after another.
โDoctor, Iโm begging you, my motherโs already so old. Where are we supposed to go?โ
โYeah, and look at my fatherโs leg! He canโt even move. How do you expect us to leave?โ
โThis hospital took our money, and now youโre kicking us out? Isn't that a bit heartless?โ
โExactly! Get your director out here and give us an explanation!โ
โWeโre all here for treatment. Why are we the ones being thrown out?โ
The head nurse looked at the crowd, clearly losing her patience. This had gone on long enoughโwerenโt they tired of shouting?
โAlright, thatโs enough!โ
She grabbed a megaphone, because without it, there was no way to control the chaos.
It was deafening in here!
โEveryone quiet down! This is a hospital! Have you all forgotten how to behave?โ
Sheโd reached her limit. It wasnโt like the crowd was innocent. Theyโd all rushed over to gawk at that VIP, and a few had even crossed the line with their comments. Theyโd only been kicked out, and honestly, that VIP had shown remarkable restraint.
Seeing that the head nurse was genuinely angry, the crowd finally quieted down a little. But they still felt the need to fight for their rights. Someone even dropped their luggage right there in the lobby, clearly not planning to leave.
โI donโt care. Weโre patients, and weโve got nowhere else to go. We paid and followed all the rules. Why wonโt you let us stay?โ
โYeah, this is nothing but bullying!โ
Another voice rang out, โWhat, is this hospital only for the rich now?โ
โYeah, we may be poor, but we paid every single cent we were supposed to!โ
Voices rose from every corner, overlapping and echoing through the lobby. In seconds, the head nurseโs voice was completely drowned out. It was a tough situationโone she had never faced before.
Just when she was at her witsโ end, an aged, commanding voice cut through the chaos.
โYou paid your fees, sure. But you have no manners!โ
The room fell silent. Everyone turned to look in the direction of the voice.
When the head nurse saw who had arrived, she was nearly moved to tears.
โMr. Winter, thank goodness youโre here.โ
These people were absolutely terrifying. They had nearly eaten her alive. If the director had shown up even a moment later, she wasnโt sure sheโd have made it out in one piece. This crowd was like something out of a zombie movie.
People looked around at each other, unsure what to say in the presence of the dignified, stern-faced director.
He let out a cold snort. โWhat happened to all that yelling for me earlier? Now that Iโm here, why is everyone suddenly so quiet?โ
The authority in his voice was undeniable, and combined with his presence, it left everyone speechless. Some, realizing the situation, quietly picked up their things and slipped away.
Watching this unfold, Megan leaned toward Leonard with a hint of admiration.
โI totally didnโt expect that. This director really knows how to handle a crowd. Just a few words, and people are already leaving. That poor nurse was shouting herself hoarse earlier, and it didnโt do a thing.โ
Leonard couldnโt help but laugh. He looked at the directorโs stern face and nodded in agreement. โYeah, heโs got real presence.โ
