The moment Tessa saw the director, her eyes flickered. Just from the way he treated Lucas, it was clear that they definitely knew each other. There was no other explanation for how things had played out. This director was well known throughout Millford. For him to go this far for Lucas, there was only one possibility: he knew exactly who Lucas really was. Tessa couldn’t think of any other reason. And now, her curiosity was genuinely piqued.
It turned out her brother-in-law was far more capable than she’d expected, and not even his own family knew the truth. At this point, Tessa was beginning to wonder if Aurora even knew who she had married. She didn’t know for sure, but everything that had happened so far pointed to one thing–Lucas was no ordinary man, meant she had to make sure Aurora knew exactly what he had done. That way, when she woke up, she wouldn’t be completely in the dark. At the very least, she’d know her man had betrayed her. Just the thought of that gave Tessa a thrill. She loved watching Aurora suffer. Even if she woke up later, as long as her life was miserable, that would be enough.
Tessa had to move quickly. She needed to have everything ready before Aurora regained consciousness. That was the only way to secure what came next. She clenched her fists and silently vowed that she wouldn’t let Aurora wake up just like that. She had worked too hard to let it all fall apart now. So long as Aurora remained unconscious, everything had gone smoothly. Nothing had stood in her way. But the moment Aurora was back, everything changed. Tessa would vanish into the background, and next to Aurora, she looked like a complete joke.
So much time had passed without Aurora waking up, and Tessa had already started embedding herself deeper into Walton Corporation. But she had a nagging feeling–if Aurora did wake up, everything would reset to how it was before, with barely any change at all. All her effort would’ve been for nothing, everything she’d built slipping through her fingers. And if the truth came to light, the carefully crafted image she’d worked so hard to maintain would be ruined in an instant. Tessa took a deep breath, clutching tightly at Julian’s sleeve. She was already planning to send him off to take care of things the moment this ended, right before anything could change and slipped out of her control.
Right now, she was watching closely, waiting to see if Lucas would come downstairs. If he did, that would be Julian’s chance. After all, plans like these were made for people bold enough to carry them out. Julian looked at Tessa’s ambitious expression, hesitation flickering in his eyes. Truthfully, he still thought the plan was far too risky. But seeing her so confident, he didn’t know what else to say. Besides, they were already in too deep. Backing out now would make everything pointless. They hadn’t traveled all this way just to follow Megan and Leonard around with nothing to show for it. They both knew that. And that was exactly why they’d decided to gamble everything on this one move.
