Chapter 643
It was just an injection.
It wasnโt anything tough.
Theyโd handled worse.
This time, the only difference was the location.
They were abroad now.
Still, Tessa could see the unease lingering on Julianโs face.
She knew, of course, that pulling something like this off wasnโt easy.
And if they got caught, it would be humiliating and even disastrous.
To help ease his nerves, Tessa took him back to the hotel and insisted he rest.
โAlright, what you need to do now is relax. Weโll go back to the hospital together tonight.โ
Julian nodded. โIโm fine. Donโt worry, I wonโt let you down.โ
Tessa was in full encouragement mode now.
Every time Julian started to waver, sheโd boost him right back up.
The hours flew by, and soon night fell.
But as darkness settled in, Julianโs nerves kicked in again.
He didnโt know why.
It had felt manageable earlier in the day.
Now? His palms were sweaty, his heart racing.
The thought of being caught filled him with dread.
And yet, Tessa looked calm and even confident.
How was she so sure this would work?
He turned to her, feeling uncertain. โAre you sure this is really going to go smoothly?โ
โRelax. Iโve arranged everything. Iโll get Lucas out of the way, and you just get in and out.โ
โAlright. Just try to buy me as much time as you can. Iโm not exactly great at this kind of thing.โ
Tessa looked at him, starting to grow impatient at his hesitation.
โIโve got it, okay? Just trust me. Iโll keep watch for you.โ
She had already made up her mind.
Luring Lucas away?
That was the easy part.
She would just call Grace and have her call Lucas.
After spending the day watching, she realized that Lucas really did care about Aurora.
Even while she was unconscious, the moment something happened, he was the first to respond.
So, if the call came from Grace, there was a good chance Lucas would step away to take it.
โLetโs head to the hospital first. Iโll find a chance to call Mom in a bit.โ
Julian looked puzzled.
Why call Grace now?
It wasnโt like she could show up from halfway around the world.
Catching his confused stare, Tessa didnโt bother explaining.
โOh, come on. I told you itโs fine. Just trust me and get moving with the injection.โ
โAlright. I trust you.โ
Julian decided to take the risk.
Wasnโt that what life was all about anyway?
Sometimes, a bold move was the only way forward.
That was what mattered most.
Once Julian was out the door, Tessa pulled out her phone and dialed Grace.
But with the time difference, Grace was still napping back home.
Tessa knew she might be interrupting, but there was no other choice.
Every other method of luring Lucas out was unreliable.
This was the only one sheโd spent real time thinking through.
She wasnโt going to let it go to waste.
With that in mind, she kept calling, again and again.
Eventually, the repeated buzzing dragged Grace out of her nap.
Seeing that it was Tessa calling, she felt a twinge of irritation.
Wasnโt this child always the most sensible one?
Why was she suddenly calling nonstop at this hour?
