Now, getting Lucas out of the way was no longer a problem. As long as Julian could get in and administer the injection, everything would fall into place. Just thinking about it made Tessa’s tone brighten with excitement. She immediately laid out her plan to Grace.

“First, call Lucas and see if he answers. If he doesn’t, call me right after.”

“You’re going to find him?”

Tessa nodded. “Exactly. When you get through to me, I’ll hand the phone over to him.”

Grace thought about it for a moment. The plan did make sense. Besides, she had quite a few things she wanted to ask Lucas herself. He had taken her daughter away – what exactly was he trying to do? And if he dared deceive her child, then no matter the cost, she wouldn’t let him off easily. Once everything was aligned between them, Tessa was ready to hang up.

“Alright then, Mom, remember to call him. I’ll head over to the hospital and wait. If anything seems off, call me, and I’ll pass the phone to Lucas.”

She smiled. “You probably have a lot to say to him anyway.”

Seeing her daughter so enthusiastic, Grace didn’t object. If Tessa was genuinely trying to help, there was nothing more to be said. Even if things didn’t work out, at least she now knew what was going on with Aurora. That alone made it worth it. Grace had always been more clearheaded than most – less prone to overcomplicating things. After all, with everything that had happened recently, there was no way she’d have made it through without learning a few hard lessons. Those lessons had shaped and helped her grow. Otherwise, none of this would be possible.

After hanging up, Tessa quickly made her way to the hospital. On the way, she sent a message to Julian, warning him not to act rashly. After all, there was only one dose of the drug. If they got caught, it would be wasted and they wouldn’t get another chance like this. It would be a shame to lose such an opportunity. At that moment, all Tessa could think about was the possibility of the drug going to waste. Julian’s safety never crossed her mind.

In fact, she had already mentally placed him beneath the importance of that vial. The corners of her lips lifted in a faint, knowing smile. He was just a man. If he was lost, so be it. To her, men were expendable. If she wanted another, there were plenty more. No point in getting hung up on one branch when the whole forest was hers for the taking. Besides, Julian wasn’t exactly remarkable in her eyes. Tessa had always been clear about what she wanted.

Julian, upon reading her message, finally let out a breath of relief. He had come fully prepared to act, but had been hesitating, unsure how to proceed. Originally, Tessa had suggested climbing through a window. But Aurora’s room was on the tenth floor. If he slipped, he’d be gone for good. And if that happened, what would stocks and investments even matter? Julian had immediately shut down that idea the moment she brought it up.
