Chapter 665
Very soon, Megan walked through the alley.
Aurora was genuinely shocked when she saw her. She had originally thought it was just a coincidence, but now it was clear that this had been planned. Otherwise, how could they have timed Meganโs appearance so precisely?
Seeing this, Auroraโs suspicions about Tessa deepened even more. That woman was far from simple. How could she still be stirring up trouble and lurking around, even after everything that had happened and with Megan attending the same school? Just thinking about it gave Aurora a headache.
Tessa really was like an unkillable cockroach. And when the thugs spotted their target, their eyes lit up, especially when they saw Meganโs sweet faceโtheir grins grew even more obscene.
Aurora instinctively stepped forward, trying to block Meganโs path. She shouted, โMegan, donโt go this way! There are bad people up ahead. Please, just look around!โ Her voice broke, filled with panic. She couldnโt bear to see Megan go through that again. She was truly terrified. Megan was so kind and gentleโwhy should she have to suffer like that? If this really had been Tessaโs doing, Aurora wouldnโt show any mercy. She would make her pay.
But no matter how hard Aurora tried, Megan didnโt react at all. And, just as expected, Megan walked straight through her. Her body, here in this world, was completely useless. Aside from being an observer, it felt like there was absolutely nothing she could do. A deep, aching helplessness pierced through Auroraโs chestโshe didnโt want to see little Megan go through that terrifying ordeal again. Back then, if she hadnโt arrived in time, she couldnโt even bear to imagine what mightโve happened.
Then, suddenly, Megan stopped walking. Aurora stared in surprise, a flicker of hope lighting in her eyes. Could it beโฆ Megan heard her voice? She stepped forward excitedly, only to realize Megan had just spotted a stray cat. She crouched down and took a stick of cat treats from her bag to feed it. Even as a child, Megan had always been kind to the core.
Whenever she saw a stray cat or dog, she would go out of her way to care for them, helping however she could and doing whatever was within her ability. Aurora remembered it clearly. At first, Megan would get so upset when she had nothing on her to feed them with. She was so anxious sheโd nearly cry. After that, she got into the habit of carrying cat food, dog food, and portable treats just in case. She couldnโt bear the thought of meeting another stray and having nothing to offer.
Watching this soft-hearted little girl, Auroraโs eyes filled with tears. How could someone so good and gentle be the one to suffer such cruelty? How dare those damn thugs?
Megan gently patted the kittenโs head. โAlright, Mimi. Youโve had enough. I need to go now. I canโt stay too long. Itโs getting dark. My driver couldnโt pick me up today, but itโs fine. I can take the shortcut home.โ
Auroraโs mind jolted. The driver didnโt come? What was going on? A cold sweat broke out across her skin. Everything was like a tightly woven trap, pulling her deeper and deeper, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldnโt break free.
