Chapter 665

Very soon, Megan walked through the alley.

Aurora was genuinely shocked when she saw her. She had originally thought it was just a coincidence, but now it was clear that this had been planned. Otherwise, how could they have timed Meganโ€™s appearance so precisely?

Seeing this, Auroraโ€™s suspicions about Tessa deepened even more. That woman was far from simple. How could she still be stirring up trouble and lurking around, even after everything that had happened and with Megan attending the same school? Just thinking about it gave Aurora a headache.

Tessa really was like an unkillable cockroach. And when the thugs spotted their target, their eyes lit up, especially when they saw Meganโ€™s sweet faceโ€“their grins grew even more obscene.

Aurora instinctively stepped forward, trying to block Meganโ€™s path. She shouted, โ€œMegan, donโ€™t go this way! There are bad people up ahead. Please, just look around!โ€ Her voice broke, filled with panic. She couldnโ€™t bear to see Megan go through that again. She was truly terrified. Megan was so kind and gentleโ€“why should she have to suffer like that? If this really had been Tessaโ€™s doing, Aurora wouldnโ€™t show any mercy. She would make her pay.

But no matter how hard Aurora tried, Megan didnโ€™t react at all. And, just as expected, Megan walked straight through her. Her body, here in this world, was completely useless. Aside from being an observer, it felt like there was absolutely nothing she could do. A deep, aching helplessness pierced through Auroraโ€™s chestโ€“she didnโ€™t want to see little Megan go through that terrifying ordeal again. Back then, if she hadnโ€™t arrived in time, she couldnโ€™t even bear to imagine what mightโ€™ve happened.

Then, suddenly, Megan stopped walking. Aurora stared in surprise, a flicker of hope lighting in her eyes. Could it beโ€ฆ Megan heard her voice? She stepped forward excitedly, only to realize Megan had just spotted a stray cat. She crouched down and took a stick of cat treats from her bag to feed it. Even as a child, Megan had always been kind to the core.

Whenever she saw a stray cat or dog, she would go out of her way to care for them, helping however she could and doing whatever was within her ability. Aurora remembered it clearly. At first, Megan would get so upset when she had nothing on her to feed them with. She was so anxious sheโ€™d nearly cry. After that, she got into the habit of carrying cat food, dog food, and portable treats just in case. She couldnโ€™t bear the thought of meeting another stray and having nothing to offer.

Watching this soft-hearted little girl, Auroraโ€™s eyes filled with tears. How could someone so good and gentle be the one to suffer such cruelty? How dare those damn thugs?

Megan gently patted the kittenโ€™s head. โ€œAlright, Mimi. Youโ€™ve had enough. I need to go now. I canโ€™t stay too long. Itโ€™s getting dark. My driver couldnโ€™t pick me up today, but itโ€™s fine. I can take the shortcut home.โ€

Auroraโ€™s mind jolted. The driver didnโ€™t come? What was going on? A cold sweat broke out across her skin. Everything was like a tightly woven trap, pulling her deeper and deeper, and no matter how hard she tried, she couldnโ€™t break free.
