Listen to this chapter:

She couldnโ€™t remember anything about him, not even the slightest impression. But for some reason, the feeling he gave her was unpleasant, even strange. After all this time, she still couldnโ€™t recall anything about him.

The next second, the strangerโ€™s expression changed the moment he saw Auroraโ€™s car drive off. He stepped aside and pulled out his phone, clearly about to call someone. Aurora raised an eyebrow. She hadnโ€™t expected the person they sent to be this clueless. Just a few moments in, and he was already making a move. They hadnโ€™t even done anything new on their end yet.

This guy really didnโ€™t seem to have much going on upstairs. Aurora didnโ€™t even bother to comment. Good. If this was the useless pawn theyโ€™d sent, then dealing with him would be a breeze. That thought made her feel much better. With arms crossed, she followed the stranger.

Before long, the call connected. After learning that the thugs had ended up in jail and hadnโ€™t managed to capture anything, the person on the other end seemed to grow uneasy.

โ€œYeah, I saw everything clearly. Even the camera was confiscated by the police.โ€

Hearing that, Aurora quickly figured out what the other person had asked. It looked like they were getting nervous. That tail of the fox would probably show itself soon.

โ€œAlright. Donโ€™t worry. Iโ€™ll keep watching.โ€

After hanging up, the man let out a sigh of relief. He might be doing this for money, but the presence of the person on the other end was still way too intense. Every time he spoke with that person, it felt like walking the edge of death. So, if he could avoid calling, he would. Unless absolutely necessary, he had no intention of calling at all.

Now, he still had to keep watch outside the police station. If anything changed, he had to report it immediately. Aurora raised an eyebrow. With just those two sentences, she couldnโ€™t really figure out much. Still, she didnโ€™t want to leave the police station. She wasnโ€™t sure why, but she had a feeling that person might show up at the station in person. Otherwise, how could he feel at ease?

Just as Aurora thought, Tessa was pacing back and forth at home, unable to sit still. Sheโ€™d assumed that it was just a middle school girl โ€“ the men she sent shouldโ€™ve taken care of it quickly. But clearly, things werenโ€™t that simple. Those men were completely useless. And to make things worse, even the camera had been confiscated.

Now that she was in high school, Tessa had developed a general sense of how to handle things. She knew that the worst thing in a crisis was to panic. With that in mind, she forced herself to calm down. She began to seriously think through everyone she could turn to for help. If this got exposed, even without mentioning anything else, sheโ€™d have a hard time explaining things to Grace.

Tessa took a deep breath and stared at the floor. Her eyes suddenly sharpened. She thought of someone who could definitely help her.

โ€œRight, how could I have forgotten about him?โ€

She slapped her forehead, determination written all over her face. It really felt like fate was helping her out. And just in time โ€“ heโ€™d recently come back. What the Waltons couldnโ€™t pull off didnโ€™t mean that person couldnโ€™t.
