Chapter 68
Aurora had no intention of acknowledging Joseph. Trash was trash. Give it attention, and it might start thinking you actually cared. She moved to walk past him without a second glance, planning to leave Walton Corporation altogether.
But Joseph spotted her. His gaze flickered, and the humiliation from last nightโs banquet came rushing back. Rage ignited in his chest. He strode forward, blocking her path, his eyes sweeping over her with open hostility.
โWell, well,โ he sneered. โLooks like landing yourself a sugar daddy really changed things, huh? You almost had me fooled with that whole pure and untouchable act. Does your little pretty boy know youโre like this?โ
Aurora curled her fingers into a fist, resisting the urge to land a punch on him right then and there. For the sake of Walton Corporationโs reputation, she held back.
โA filthy mind sees filth everywhere,โ she said coldly. โIf youโve got nothing better to do, then get lost.โ
Joseph let out a mocking laugh. โYou really think youโre somebody, donโt you? Letโs see how long you lastโbecause if anyoneโs getting kicked out of here, itโll be you.โ
Auroraโs brows knitted slightly. โWhat the hell do you mean?โ
Joseph lifted his chin smugly, practically gloating. โNo harm in telling you now. Iโm waiting for the Walton younger heiress. Once Iโm with her, it wonโt take more than a snap of my fingers to have you thrown out of Walton Corporation.โ
Aurora blinked at him. Then, because the sheer absurdity of it all was too much, she actually let out a short laugh. โThe Walton younger heiress? You think she is going to kick me out?โ
Joseph smirked, his expression dripping with arrogance. โWhat, feeling nervous now? I bet you donโt even have the kind of connections to meet her.โ His tone turned patronizing, as if he were enjoying himself. โItโs understandable, really. Thereโs a huge gap between the rich and the poorโyou probably donโt even dare to say her name.โ
A chill flickered through Auroraโs eyes, her patience rapidly wearing thin.
โOh, I know the Walton younger heiress very well,โ she said smoothly, an edge of mockery in her tone.
Josephโs eyes lit up, and without thinking, he grabbed her wrist.
His voice was eager, urgent. โReally? Then tell me, what does she look like? What time does she usually come to the office? If I wait here today, will I see her?โ
Auroraโs gaze darkened instantly.
โLet go.โ
She frowned, trying to yank her hand free, but Josephโs grip only tightened.
โWhy arenโt you answering?โ he demanded. โYou afraid youโll be kicked out, so youโre deliberately keeping it from me?โ
His hold remained firm, his fingers digging into her wrist with no intention of letting go. The difference in strength between them was obvious, and Aurora winced as pain shot through her wrist. She let out a quiet gasp.
โIf you want answers, then let go. This is still Walton Corporationโarenโt you worried that the younger heiress youโre so desperate to impress will hear about the scene youโre making?โ
Joseph immediately released her, his face shifting as if he suddenly remembered where they were. โYou make a good point.โ
Aurora nearly laughed at how shamelessly opportunistic he was. Had she really been this blind for three whole years?
Their little altercation had already drawn glances from the front desk staff.
Joseph, still relentless, pressed on. โSo? You still havenโt told me about the Walton younger heiress.โ
Aurora rubbed her wrist, her voice chilling. โDonโt worry, the Walton younger heiress has very high standards. A toad like you doesnโt stand a chance. Maybe spend some time looking in a mirror.โ
The eager anticipation in Josephโs eyes immediately twisted into fury.
โYou bitch!โ He raised his hand as if to strike her. โAre you messing with me? If youโve never even seen the Walton younger heiress, stop pretending like you know herโฆโ
But before he could land the blow, Aurora reacted instantly. She caught his wrist in a firm grip, twisting it just enough to press against a pressure point.
Josephโs face contorted in agony, his whole body tensing as pain shot through him. His breath hitched. โLโLet goโฆโ
