The most important thing now was to find evidence that proved Tessa was involved. Without it, everything else would be pointless. In the end, there would be no way to convict her. It was laughable. It was clear that Tessa was behind it, but without proof, there was nothing that could be done.

Leonard spoke up. “Don’t worry, Aurora. Everyone here will do everything possible to help. There are only two culprits. The direction is clear. The rest just takes time.”

Hearing that, Aurora felt comforted. What he said made a lot of sense. She nodded, letting him know she understood. “Thank you. Don’t worry. All of this makes sense to me.”

The two of them exchanged a smile. There was nothing more to it than that. It was just a perfectly normal gesture. Lucas might not have liked it, but he didn’t say anything. This was part of Aurora’s normal social circle. He couldn’t possibly interfere with that. If he did, he’d really be overstepping.

Megan also sensed the strange tension in the room. If it continued like this, the awkwardness might be unbearable. But she quickly changed the subject. She looked at Aurora, who was already fully dressed, and said in surprise, “Aurora, why are you dressed like you’re heading out?”

She couldn’t help feeling a bit shocked. Wasn’t it normal to wear a hospital gown in the room? Or at the very least, something loose and comfortable? This outfit made Megan feel like Aurora was about to head out the door any second.

In the next moment, Megan’s tone turned sharp. “Aurora, what’s the meaning of this? Don’t tell me you’re planning to go out right after waking up?” She narrowed her eyes, her expression completely serious.

Seeing this, Aurora was a little surprised. Since when had Megan become this perceptive? She’d never noticed it before, and truthfully, it caught her off guard. Even Lucas, standing to the side, looked amused.

Sure enough, when it came to situations like this, it took someone familiar with Aurora to keep her in check. Otherwise, he really wouldn’t know what to do with her. Aurora didn’t usually listen to him. If he tried to stop her, she’d probably accuse him of being controlling or overly traditional, just trying to keep her from going out.

But it was different with Megan. As her best friend, anything she said would carry more weight. No matter what, Aurora would at least listen to Megan a little. Lucas had to admit that he really knew how to play this game, because when Aurora heard Megan’s words, she actually started to feel guilty. She didn’t even know where to look.

At first, she hadn’t thought much of it. Even when Lucas tried to stop her, it didn’t bother her. But when it came from Megan, she actually started to feel nervous.

She gave a sheepish reply. “I just thought the hospital gown was uncomfortable, that’s all…” Even as she said it, she felt a little guilty herself.

Megan raised an eyebrow, giving Aurora a surprised look. “You sure that’s the truth?” She still wasn’t convinced. Knowing how much of a workaholic Aurora usually was, she was probably planning to head straight to work.
