โTo be honest, my son did call a while back.โ
Hearing that, Grace sat up a little straighter, her interest clearly piqued.
โAnd?โ She gestured for Albert to go on. After all, this involved the details of what happened in Millfordโdetails Tessa hadnโt shared with her in full. Aurora had only told her sheโd regained consciousness, but beyond that, Grace knew nothing. So, she was genuinely curious.
Albert looked somewhat helpless. โHe said he got into some trouble and landed in prison over there. He wanted me to find a way to get him out. But honestly, I couldnโt do anything.โ
โYou didnโt help him?โ Grace narrowed her eyes, sensing something off. Logically speaking, Julian was their only son. Would they really just leave him to rot?
Albert noticed the suspicion in her eyes and, after a momentโs hesitation, changed tactics. โOf course I tried to help,โ he said quickly with a forced smile. โHeโs my only sonโhow could I not?โ
โThen where is Julian now?โ From the information Grace had received, Julian was still in prison and from what she heard, his mental state wasnโt looking good either. She wasnโt sure how much of that Albert actually knew.
He wiped the sweat from his forehead. โI havenโt been able to get him out yet.โ
โYou know this, Madam Graceโheโs my only son. Of course, I donโt want to just stand by and watch him go down like this.โ That was what Albert said on the surface. But deep down, he couldnโt help scoffing. Julian was just a sonโso long as he had money and stayed healthy, making a few more wouldnโt be a problem. Everything else could be dealt with later. What mattered most was protecting his position.
โSo when I found out he was in prison, I was more disappointed than anything. I figured letting him stay in there a bit longer might actually do him some goodโteach him a lesson, maybe knock some sense into him.โ Grace looked at his smug face and felt a wave of disgust rise in her chest.
She held out her hand toward Jason, who instantly understood. He reached into the bag and pulled out another set of documents.
Chapter 897
Once Grace had them, she tossed them straight onto the table. โYouโd better take a look at this too.โ
Albert, confused, picked them up. He didnโt like Graceโs attitude, but no matter what, she was still a major investor in their company. She still needed to be kept happy.
Jason stood quietly to the side, watching Albert grovel, and felt utterly disgusted. Now he was afraid of Grace? But back when his son hurt both Graceโs daughters, did he even stop to think who Hayes Enterprises owed their success to? Honestly, Jason couldnโt understand how people like this thought. Their brains might as well be for show.
Of course, he was just an assistant. So, all these thoughts stayed locked inside his head. What mattered now was doing his job well. Whether or not heโd liked Tessa in the past, right now, his loyalty lay with her. That sense of unity and collective prideโhe still had it.
At first, Albert hadnโt been too concerned. After all, theyโd already laid out his sonโs crimes. What more could she possibly have?
