Chapter 905

At that, the chief nearly burst out laughing. This family was truly something else. Theyโ€™d already made a complete mess of things, and now they still had the nerve to ask him to release the guy? And besides, this mess wasnโ€™t even aimed at him. It involved someone far more powerfulโ€“not someone he could brush off with a few casual words.

Albert was confused. He couldnโ€™t understand what the chief meant. Heโ€™d laid things out clearlyโ€“anyone with a bit of sense would have agreed to release his son. So why didnโ€™t the chief seem even slightly inclined to do so? He was genuinely at a loss.

โ€œI donโ€™t understandโ€“what exactly did my son do to end up in jail?" He figured, at most, it was something involving a woman. But that old woman from the Walton Corporation had been absolutely furious and he still didnโ€™t get it. She kept saying it was because of his son. Yet truthfully, Albert didnโ€™t really know what his son had been up to.

Now, hearing the chiefโ€™s tone, he started realizing something was very wrong. The chief found it so absurd, he couldnโ€™t help but laugh. Julian had already lost his mind in prison and his own father still had no clue what heโ€™d done? It was really laughable. He couldnโ€™t hold it inโ€“his voice carried a hint of amusement. โ€œAlright, let me spell it out for you.โ€

Albertโ€™s heart skipped a beat. He had a feeling the answer wasnโ€™t going to be something he wanted to hear. And combined with the way Grace had reacted, he couldnโ€™t help but feel a flicker of doubt. But the chief didnโ€™t give Albert any time to reactโ€“he went straight into it, laying out every detail.

โ€œSo right now, weโ€™re just waiting to decrypt the contents of that phone. After that, your son will be facing additional charges. And aside from that, his mental state isnโ€™t exactly stable at the moment either.โ€

Hearing those words, Albert instantly tensed. He had thought about cutting ties with that son before. But the truth was, with the Hayes name behind him, he never imagined anyone would really dare touch him. He hadnโ€™t expected the trouble to be this serious. That was something he never saw coming.

As much as he disliked his son, he was still his flesh and blood. He couldnโ€™t just stand by and watch him lose his life. And deep down, it wasnโ€™t like he didnโ€™t care at allโ€“this was still his own child. He hadnโ€™t expected greatness from him but watching him spiral into madness wasnโ€™t something he could accept.

โ€œMr. Warrenโ€ฆ is there still room to discuss this?โ€ Albertโ€™s tone had grown cautious, completely different from before, especially after hearing about his sonโ€™s condition; his mood sank rapidly. He couldnโ€™t understand itโ€“his son had just taken a trip abroad. How had everything gone so horribly wrong?

The chief thought of Lucasโ€“the kind of man known for never letting things slide. Everyone knew it. No one was foolish enough to cross him. So, there was no way heโ€™d betray him now, just for the sake of some prisoner. Besides, that was someone he couldnโ€™t afford to offend. With that, the chief simply let out a sigh. โ€œDonโ€™t ask too many questions. Just worry about your own business.โ€
